Structure for 500 Days

On Tuesday, February 19. I will begin 500 days to healthy weight. I explained in the previous blog that I am thinking of it like a school course; I have assignments to fulfill daily until the span is done.

This blog just contains boring details. I need to record the specifics for my own ongoing reference, and as a public affirmation & record of my determined intention.

It's reasonable to wonder why I didn't simply use 16 months. The main reason is that I wanted a fresh perspective, to shake up my ordinary mental channels. How many times have I started a campaign and not finished out the month? Embarrassing but realistic. I want this to be different, to have particular target dates, distinctive due dates specific to this program. I also wanted to end on July 4, 2014.

Here is my course syllabus. For 500 days...

1. I will track my food on SparkPeople.
2. I will stay in recommended calorie range.
3. I will do a minimum of 20 minutes daily exercise.
4. I will blog each quarter-term report card.

I have been tracking all food scrupulously and exercising consistently for six weeks, to warm up. I can keep going.

Some say if you fail to plan, you plan to fail. Now I have a plan. (Note: I tweaked the dates from when I first posted this blog, to more easily keep up with them.....thanks to the wise advice of my best friend dh.)

Each quarter term has a theme:

B Blossoming....begins March 20
C Creativity.....begins April 20
D Delight..........begins May 20

E Enrichment....begins June 20 [revised to "Elevate"]
F Fellowship.......begins July 20
G Gratitude........begins August 20
H Habits.............begins September 20

If I reach goal weight early, or if I revise my goal to maintain at a different weight, I will still complete the tracking, observing the 500 days. My trackers have been public for quite a while. Vigilant nutrition and scheduled exercise is now a life pattern.
