I ran my first 5K this morning. I don't think I would have done it had it not been for two friends and co-workers. One of them ended up having an extra registration. The other one graciously agreed to run at my pace through the whole 5K. And she is training for a half marathon, so quite obviously, she could have gone MUCH faster than me. She was my inspiration and encouraged me in the most difficult moments. I am so grateful for her companionship this morning! We came in at 33:40. And that, I tell you, is the fastest I have ever done. I usually set the treadmill at 40 minutes and hope to do about three miles by the time the 40 minutes run out. Yep. On a treadmill. Without hills like we had during the race this morning. So, celebrating the first 5K!

I am hoping to do more this year. We have the Glow Run coming up in April and then the Color Run in July. I will certainly do one or both of those. And then, of course, there are plenty of local events to choose from. I am looking forward to comparing my times already! emoticon
