Discouraged, but not Defeated

Saturday, February 16, 2013

You probably read about people getting started on SP and they don't lose weight right away. I'm one of them. My program started in January of this year and now it's mid-Feb. and I'm not seeing any progress - YET.

I read on either a message board or a blog somewhere that we should reach out for help if we're not seeing the results. I'm glad I read that because i may have just turned off the computer and gone back to old habits. Luckily, I did reach out and people did respond.

So today I wanted to say to all of you who are struggling with not seeing your expected results - reach out ! Keep reading the message boards and blogs. Look for ways to keep yourself plugged in to the programs and teams. People will respond to you and you'll feel you're not alone. Thanks, SparkPeople!

    Hi you brave Sparkie,
at the beginning I didīnt lose weight either until I started weighing out my portions and logging everything into the nutrition tracker. Then I started to drink a lot more water and bought myself a pedometer. I aimed for at least 5,000 steps a day and gradually walked faster. Then the ounces and the pounds started to come off.
When I began to get fed up, I browsed through the motivational blogs, videos and success stories. All this has kept me going and now I have lost about 17 lbs in 6 months. I am 3 lbs away from goal!
Please stick to it - with the help of Spark People it is do-able! emoticon

It's taken forever for me to lose 20 pounds so I understand, but you will eventually get there and be glad you stick with the program!

Yes, you're not alone! Last week, I gained weight, but this week's weigh-in, I lost weight. I just made some adjustments and there was progress! If I could do this, you can do this! Hang in there and trust, things will turn around for you!

Please don't lose heart! It took me quite a while to put it all together. I was exercising a LOT but I didn't have the eating in hand and I was definitely not drinking enough water. Somehow I thought that part of the advice didn't apply to me! Now I still trip up occasionally, but I'm on track most of the time. And once you get everything in line, you will see the results you want!
p.s. Re: your previous blog: Left-over Valentine's treats? My vote---THROW THEM OUT!

I hope things turn around for you soon, and I'm so glad that you don't feel defeated, we're all different and things just happen sooner and easier for some of us. Keep moving and making good food choices and being mindful of those portions and I think that weight will start coming off, slowly but surely. emoticon
