I work with some very Alpha males who feel the need to turn everything into a competition. These guys are already in incredible shape and constantly tell me I am not doing enough. They have seen major losses in hardly any time at all. One guy went from 215 to 183 in 2 months!! These guys each have goals of 10-14% body fat. I am so sick of hearing how whatever I am doing is not working and I should just quit. I am asked daily if I am ready to join "Globogym" which is the nickname this group of guys call themselves. I don't know why it is getting to me today but it just is. I admire their dedication but such a strict lifestyle does not appeal to me. I do not want to run 5+ miles everyday. I have seen a few lbs loss in the last month and was happy about it. I know I have no reason to compare my results to theirs but I wish I could just shut them up one time. Prove them wrong once just to knock them off their high horses. It is so frustrating. And I ate ice cream and pizza today. WTF!

    Thanks to everyone for the encouragement! I did a lot of thinking about it yesterday and realized I am probably just mad that I am unable to compete with them and see the same results as quickly as they do. I have decided to celebrate small victories such as meeting my caloric intake goals and actually logging them! The guys can continue to put me down and judge me all they want, I will go on and be happier in the end. emoticon

    I was blessed to tour with a group a guys who were very Alpha male - competitive in their workouts. I had a wonderful time. We played tennis on our lunch hours and went for a run after work. One was a body builder so he modified my workouts so that I had a chance on working out with them. They were not concentrating on weight loss at all but on muscle development. I think I was at my most fit those 6 months I was with them. The competition got me going because they made it so that I had a fighting chance. Sounds like these guys just want to put you down. Find some new Alpha males.

    Guys will always lose faster than women because they have more muscle mass. The key to losing more weight for us, not necessarily in scale weight, is to build more muscle. Muscle will burn fat more efficiently. So strength training and HIIT/Tabata type workouts should be your goal. You are not afraid to workout, so this will be easy for you. I have met many figure competitors, some have transitioned from a size 16 to a size 2!!!!... their workouts revolved around strength training heavy, and some cardio. They trained hard, most do split ST workout rotations.

    Also, their diets were build around protein, veggies and complex carbs, but erred on the side of more protein and adjusting or cycling their carbs based on what workout they are doing, i.e.,intense workout - more carbs, etc.

    Try to ignore them because there is really no comparison between you and them, you are not a man, so don't let it bother you, just try to figure out "WHAT" will work for you and do it and then let the results speak for themselves! emoticon emoticon ~ Dee
