I now am renting three storage units!

Friday, February 15, 2013

I filled my 10/17 ft one with three book cases plus two desks..My book boxes are stacked 5 ft high.I ran out of room.I still have 30 boxes at the apt I'm moving into.plus at at least 30 boxes still in Anza.I'm hoping by next month I will be caught up enough to get rid of the Anza storage locker which is only 75.00 a month.A week ago I rented a locker in Temecula for 119.a month.Today the locker next door came open, and its rent is 166.a month. The manager will talk to the owner and try to get it lowered to 144.I will move my furniture from Anza to the new locker. If it doesn't fit out it goes.Of course I could quit selling books on line!I feel I should go on TV as a book hoarder.i'm getting so much exercise moving.I should get skinny just from moving books.did you know because of the Storage wars TV shows. You have to insure your lockers.Apparently thieves think because the storage wars people find so many goodies. that all lockers are "fair game"If the bad guys break into my lockers, they will find a few antiques and lots of books. Now it s time to start re listing books.my rest is over.Have a good evening emoticon

Yes, keep a check on your storage units (if you keep them). A guy here got caught stealing from units after months of doing it. Seems he would actually even replace the locks so no one would notice the unit had been opened by the locks being gone until they tried to open their unit and the keys wouldn't work!

That's an outrageous amount to pay monthly. Here, our storage units run more like $25-100/month. You must have some very valuable books to make it worth the storage $$ you pay to keep them.

As many book-nerds are here on SP, maybe you should include a link to your ebay store so we can visit it and maybe buy some! I know I'm certainly interested!

I suggest donating a boatload of your books to Salvation Army or the library. I think storage units are a huge money pit. Is the stuff really worth the money you are investing in the storing of it? I hope you find a solution soon too. I have too many books too. If I ever move from this house, I will get rid of as many as possible. I have invested in an iPad so that I can collect future books electronically and save shelf space. My mom just moved out of her house and into a mother-in-law suite at my sister's. She donated all her books and doesn't want to acquire any more even though she loves to read. She got a Kindle Fire for future book-buying. I also love to check books from the library regularly. There is always something there I want to read.

I am glad you are moved. Now comes the work of straightening it all out.
You get it all done soon as you are such a hard worker.

That is a workout on its own,,,,,, wow,,, moving books is a huge pain!!! But hopefully you will make some money on ebay selling them,,,,,, I am about ready to give up on mine,,,,,, if it does not fit in the book shelf,,,, or in an appropriate area in the house,,,,,, OUT it goes! Of course, I will keep the classics,,,, but most books that I think I will read again,,,, I don't. So you inspired me to clear out some and take them to the friends of the library. emoticon Have a great week-end

Sounds like a workout. I also am a book hoarder. I books that I have read many, many times and still refuse to get rid of them. They are a pain to move but I think I am in the place I will stay in until I tip over. I have an online buddy who lives in Temecula. He says its a nice place to live.
