Doing what you need.. and needing what you do

Friday, February 15, 2013

I had a stressful day all because I work with a co-worker who sells Avon and you guessed it, I don't work for or at Avon. Her constant disappearances to deliver ,and me answering the phone and talking with people who only want her is really getting on my nerves, and it is making my job harder. My company has a no solicitation clause and she knows it. She will also be terminated if she is caught. I don't want her to get fired and I don't want to turn her in but I do want her to stop. If I ask i will look like the bad girl and have to face her wraith.

So I went home with a huge headache again. I wish I could just ignore the situation or let it go but for some reason I can't . So I was going to go the gym after work but you know how that can be now. Fighting the snow for a parking spot. Walking through slushy water to get there. Then there is loud music bright fake lights, fighting for a machine etc. So on the way home I said no this is not for me at all.

When I walked through the door my dog was wagging her tail at me . She wanted a walk. I thought maybe . She insisted and had the better poker hand and off we went. Well it was just what I needed . The sun was shining , the temperature was on the warm side ,upper 30s with a light, fresh air,... yeah... breeze. We walked and walked sadly we were the only ones out enjoying it. When I got home finally stress free and slightly tired I looked at the clock and a whole hour had gone by. yippee for me and her too.

So when it comes to exercise you need to think ...WHAT DO I NEED TO DO TODAY . Do you need cardio and feel the need to run like the wind. Do you need to get rid of your stress and take a kick boxing class. Do you need to shorten your workout because you will have more stress trying to fit everything in. Be open and honest with yourself and ready for changes.
Today is strength training day for me , so I started strengthening my legs and relaxing my mind and soul on my long walk. Later after supper has digested I will do some work with weights to strengthen my arms. I had a healthy breakfast and lunch, so for supper I need to start with lots of veggies then add some grain and some protein . I need to get to bed early tonight because of the extra stress I need some extra sleep .

It was imperative to my health and well being that I do what I need . Because my body needed exercise , healthy food and a lot of sleep.

Thanks for listening to my complaints and making my day less stressful .

So remember Do what you need because you body needs what you do.

It's admirable but it needs to be dealt with. She needs to abide by the company policies and if she isn't then it needs to be corrected hon. You don't need to be dealing with that stress. You are handling it admirably in taking care of yourself but in all honesty it needs to be dealt with.
Does she have her own cell phone? If so then that is where she needs to be conducting her personal business not the business/company phones. And she needs to make her customers understand that during the work hours that's exactly what they are; work hours and her responsibility is to her job After work she can be taking care of her home based business; Avon.
And if your company is like any other company she shouldn't get fired the first time. Any company policy by law that I know of has to give two reprimands or warning before they actually fire someone or let them go. Unless of course that are still on probationary training Then the company can let them go anytime without as much as a warning.
So either way I'd be saying something to the bosses. A written "complaint"
With my lie of work I give people two chances three strikes I'm sorry they're obviously not going to change so they are better off "out the door"

Sorry you are having issues with your co-worker. As others have suggested, I think it might be time to say something either to her, or to her supervisor. Not wanting to get someone in trouble is admirable, but there is no reason you should be picking up the slack so she can basically do another job on company time.

Glad you got a walk in and that you felt better after!

Good for you for working out the stress and taking care of yourself.
But, you and your co-worker are paid to do a job. You're doing it. SHE isn't.
You have more patience than me, I'd be inclined to make it known to her that I wasn't a happy bunny about this!
This really can't go on, it's just going to stress you every time you see her or think about it
Just saying... Good luck Joanne

Have a great weekend emoticon

Hi AG, Sorry about the job stress. But you did the right thing by listening to your mind as well as your body. You did what you needed and needed what you did.
I like that thought. Have a restful sleep.

You have a lot more patience than I would have. Not fair that you have to make your job harder as not to be the bad guy.
Not worth it, in my opinion. I'd
rather be the bad guy and not have my
job imposed upon by a selfish co-worker.

ah, wow, I would really be upset about that also. I am sorry to hear you are having some stressful situations at work.

Doesn't that tail wag make everything so much better? I love when my little girl wags her tail at me when I am stressed or sad. Things don't just seem so bad. I wish I could go for a walk with her. She keeps hurting her little paw whenever we go for a walk. And then the last time we went some rogue dog came up to us. She can't handle that unfortunately.

You are right, I really need to listen to my body more. I am getting very sore in my calves from running in place. It does not help that I am not wearing shoes ( I just can't stand wearing shoes all day). I am going to do more harm than good eventually. :(

Let me see, you both get a paycheck for the job ONLY you do, she gets more $$ from Avon and nobody knows?
How about next time you need her put her calls on hold and call your boss and ask has he seen Annie delivering her avon, she has a list of messages.. or Company B really needs to talk to her"
Purely innocent.
Does it seem fair that she gets paid for your work? No way Jose`! She gets the dough, you get the stress!! UNFAIR!!

Nobody can step on me unless I get down on the ground.

Good luck dear...
