Talk about Tammy the Grouch... [I know, it's Oscar, but still...]

I hate, hate, hate it when I am like this. Even in my 50s, my Type A personality can cause me to have private fits when others don't live up to my expectations. I know intellectually that everyone reacts to events as per learned patterns of behavior, and I know there are situations that I should stay out of, but darn it, if they would listen to what I have learned in 50+ years, I could sure save them a lot of anguish.

So I spent most of the morning thinking about this, and then this afternoon, I did what I should have done this morning. I got out in the fresh air - there was some sunshine - and walked.

So I am still learning to know the difference....

Awww Tammy, you sound so frustrated. I'm so sorry. What I've learned over my many years is that sometimes people just have to do things the hard way & learn for themselves. And it's not always possible to rescue others, no matter how much we want to help them. It's hard, I know...but I have learned that I only have control over myself & no one else. And I've learned to let go. It's hard. Very hard, when you're trying to save someone from traveling down a difficult path in life. I just say a prayer & hope that they find their way...

Hugs & love to you, my friend. Taking that walk is a wise thing to do...you are loved!

Only way to go is to offer love and listening to them but rarely talk back.

If they ask, and they very rarely do, only then do you cautiously go there.

Otherwise they have to learn by THEIR mistakes not yours and if one of your suggestions back fires then there is Back lash for you.

If you are your age then whoever "they" are have aged enough to make their own mistakes.

I DID, I suspect YOU did so take the time for yourself and learn to love your life with DH. HUGS TAMMY Pat in Maine. emoticon emoticon

It is so hard not to try to 'fix' everyones problems that we know we can help with if they would just listen. I'm glad you got out and got some fresh air.

We all getting wiser with age and realize that the elders in our lives really did no what they were talking about.

Glad you got out for that walk.

Oh yeah! Been there - done that ... and nobody wants to listen to an 'older' person telling them what they should do. I didn't when I was that age; now I wish I had - would have saved me a lot of headaches!
