Adarkara's Adventures in ONEderland - Prologue

Friday, February 15, 2013

Okay so, today was the very first day I saw a 1 at the beginning of my weight, so I'm being cautious. Very cautious.

I stayed within caloric ranges and stayed within ratios yesterday, even with it being Valentine's Day. My boss gave us ladies 2 Belgian hazelnut truffles in a small but pretty leather box. Each truffle is about 75 calories. I ate one yesterday, and will be enjoying the other today. My hubby and I "celebrated" Valentine's Day by eating ribeye with baked sweet potatoes and salad, and I made chocolate chip cookies, of which I ate two small ones. We then watched a couple episodes of Swamp People and Too Cute! until about 10 PM. Bingley was sleeping on the couch between us so there was no cuddling. Tre romantic. *sarcasm* Oh well.

Today started off... oddly. I slept well, didn't even get up to pee, but the phone rang at 7:25, waking both of us out of a sound slumber. I think that set my mood for today. It was my MIL, returning our call from last night about Canadian income taxes. American income tax forms are a piece of cake compared to these Canadian ones. And we need to fill it out because my MIL put my husbands name on some savings bonds when his dad died. Without mentioning it to us. Even though he's no longer a resident of Canada. *facepalm* Paulo says the next time we go up there he's cashing them in, because we're paying HALF of the interest back in taxes!

So anyway, I make coffee, and while it's brewing, I weigh myself. I've gained 1.1 lbs. The Wii Fit has the balls to ask me why I gained. There is no option for "sodium" or "natural fluctuations due to that time of the month"....there's only "Ate too Much" "Didn't Exercise" "Ate Too Late" or "I Don't Know". I roll my eyes and choose "I Don't Know" because I ate in range, below sodium and drank 15 glasses of water. I weigh myself a second time in a different position. It's lower, but only .3 lbs. So it still reads up .8 lbs. Really annoyed now. But I notice I've positioned the Wii Fit platform closer to the TV than usual. So I move it back 4 inches to where I usually put it.

BLAM! 199.7 lbs!! I celebrate a tiny bit but I'm still annoyed because it took me 3 tries to get the correct number. And now I'm wary. I've never gotten a false low on the Wii Fit, only false highs. I know this because my lows are consistently 4 lbs lower than my doctor's scale.

Because of my caution I'm referring to today as the prologue to my adventures in ONEderland!

You simply rock. All that determination while cookies and truffles were around? Staying in range and keeping up with your salt and drinking water like crazy? You are working it! ONEderland is yours. You own it. If it tries to sneak off you will grab it by the tail and pin it down!
You made the cutest graphic! Humor and talent. LOVED it!

    Haha! I love the graphic!

Congratulations on your acheivement, it's AMAZEBALLZ!

and seriously?? Way to go not overindulging on V-day. You had all those extra treats lying around, and you had a little bit without having too much.

If your wii-fit is your only scale, though, I'm going to have to echo DAUGHTEROFTWIN and say.. get a real scale!

I have this one that I got off Amazon, and it's been very good and dependable:

http://www.amazo
n.com/Eatsmart-Precision-Bathro
om-Technology-440-Pounds/dp/B00
32TNPOE/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=
1360948884&sr=8-2&keywords=eats
mart+scale

Now maybe I was being a little bit of a downer when I bought myself a 440lb max scale, but you can definitely shave 10 bucks off of that price by buying a regular one. When I decided to get this one, though, my stomach was still pretty big, and I had to lean over to look at the numbers, so I wanted a nice, wide platform to stand on!

I picked up this scale because I bought an eatsmart food scale off amazon previously, and I LOVE it. This seems to be a really solid company, so I was glad to support them. Consider those dudes if you decide to splurge and get a scale!

You can be quiet and cautious, but my vote is that since you SAW it and you know its there! Whether its accurate to the .0001 or not, you still saw it!!!

WOOT!

emoticon Just make sure to always put yourself in the same position so the reading is always the same. Like always weighing on the same scale and not beating ourselves up when jumping on a different one and see a gain. Just continue being accountable to your self and enjoy your journey in Onderland! emoticon emoticon emoticon

My wii board has been boxed up for months now, no room to utilize it where I am now, so I can't remember what weight it might last remember me as. Wonder what happens if you show up a bunch of pounds lower, if it has a 'nice' comment, instead of being rude or indifferent?

Congrats on beginning #1!

Great job!

Woo hoo! Close! I know how cautious I was at the 200/199 border. Its exciting, but scary, since you don't want to go back up.

You're there or almost there! Celebrate a little!

Here's a little happy dance for your achievement!

Now, that being said, it's time to buy a scale sweetie. Get a good scale (not high falutin'), $35-40 range, keep it in the same place on a non-carpeted surface and reap the rewards of a dependable machine. You deserve it.
