Today was the first time in over a year that on my spark homepage, under "Goals and Progress" that my weight lost was more than 10 pounds! In the past year, I have been about 3 or 4 pounds lighter than I am now, but had a lower starting weight, and gained back about 15 pounds, and now have been losing that extra again. The past year has been up and down, but has taught me a lot, and I feel like I'm finally getting a handle on what things (both food, exercise, outlook, taking care of myself) make me my healthiest, most emotionally stable self. Hurray for busting past the "10 pounds lost" plateau!
What helps getting through that plateau is actually taking a rest or a light day; it can be easy for me to try to get through a plateau by amping my workouts, working out longer and harder, and exhausting myself, but that doesn't work. The scale number stays the same or even goes up. I was hovering at 10 pounds lost for about two weeks (where previously had been seeing losses of 1-3 pounds a week). Instead I have to remember to take my rest days or do something light. Yesterday I did about 35 minutes of yoga, which is what my body needed to relax, especially from the kickboxing and strength training I'd been doing the rest of the week.
