Feb. 15 - Continuing

Hope everyone had a very nice Valentine's Day. I worked, as usual, and came home and cleaned....as usual. LOL It's just become another day for me and that's fine. I don't seem to have much energy for anything other than going to work and cleaning the house.

I still haven't been able to get hold of my "neighbor" whose fence cut into my phone line last week. I went to her door and rang the bell twice and knocked once but never got an answer. It was around 7 pm and lights were on and I heard the TV going. So I left a note on her car windshield and asked her to call me, mentioning it was about their fence. That was Monday. I still haven't heard from them.

I work late tonight but might try going over before I head out to work. If there is no answer at the door again, this time I will leave a note saying though I would prefer to resolve the issue between us, I will not hesitate to approach the city if I don't hear from her by this coming Wednesday. It's ridiculous and not because one whole foot and a half of my yard has been cut into but I'm trying to let them know they need to get hold of the fence people to let them know what happened so it doesn't happen to anyone else! I'm sure the "neighbor" is scared I'm going to be irate when all I want is to correct the fence boundaries and prevent future heartache for someone else. It's so sad that society has become so disassociated with its neighbors and paranoid to breath too deeply these days.

On another note, yesterday a lady with three kids came through my lane and one little four or five year old was standing up in the cart throwing a tantrum. Don't know what the problem was - doesn't matter, except the mom had no control over any of the kids since the tantrum didn't subside by the time she got up to check out.

Long story short - the tantrum thrower took a swing at his big sister, which pushed the cart back, causing him to fall on his head. It was eerily quiet for a split second when the horrible "thud" sound of him hitting either the floor or the end of the counter hit. Then all the screaming escalated and as with all head wounds, he was bleeding profusely. I gave the mother a towel instantly and one of the team leads got more paper towels and called the GSTLs (upper management), which four of them were at my register within about ten seconds.

They ended up calling 911 and the paramedics took them to the ER, with Mom holding the child on the gurney. What upset the customer behind her was hearing the Mom blame the little girl for doing that to her brother, when in fact it was the little boy who kept throwing the tantrum and the mom's failure to keep them under control. But of course, I couldn't say that to HER. And since it happened at my register, I had to fill out an accident report and made sure to emphasis that the mom allowed the tantrum to continue, allowed the boy to continue standing up in the cart and her failure to control any of the children. I'm just glad the child didn't hurt his neck with a fall like that.

What a week this has been. Maybe I should start going on vacation. Everything seems to happen to me even though I just stay home or go to work!!! LOL emoticon

Your blogs are so much fun to read.
The fence situation is unbelievable. The fence company is at fault. It's hard to decide what to call people living next door to you when being a good neighbor doesn't seem to matter anymore.

You have the best checkout lane at the store. Exciting things always happen.

What a scare! Too bad that mom couldn't leave
her kids at home. I remember taking my oldest
3 shopping but by then, the girls walked along side
and the baby had the cart to himself. No tantrums
allowed or we left the store and went home.
No ifs, ands or buts about it.
Hang in there and I hope you get the fence
issue resolved.
