Day 3: Real Talk

So I'm one of those people who literally can't lose weight (the traditional way). It's not that I don't adhere to the "rules", because I did. I tried everything- Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig, Seattle Sutton, Bistro MD, Personal Trainers, Insanity (and other strenuous exercise programs), going to doctors and specialists (Endocrinologists, Gynecologists, Allergists, Chiropractors, Acupuncturists).

There are two times in my life I've lost weight. I starved myself in college (unhealthy), and I did the hCG diet before my wedding (unhealthy). For the longest time, I thought I was successful at losing weight from those two stretches of time because of the lack of calories. Turns out, I was successful at losing weight from those two stretches of time because of the lack of CARBS.

You heard it people, carbs are my enemy. Why do I say this, you ask? Because I'm ACTUALLY losing weight doing a low-carb diet. Yep. 1/2 pound each day so far. I don't feel the symptoms of "induction flu", I have plenty of energy, I don't feel hungry between meals, and I feel happy about it.

So for all you critics out there, critique away. I don't care. I'm happy I finally found what fits for me.

I honestly wonder if I've always suffered from some underlying condition that required me to eat low-carb to lose weight. PCOS? Metabolic Syndrome? I don't know.

  I am about a week into my low carb adventure! I have the same problem you do, I have been stuck.... and I mean stuck at 220-225 for months and have been doing a lot to try and work it off. I started doing Atkins Friday of last week and I have dropped about 4lbs, which is right about 1/2lb per day. Its exciting to see that scale move! And, despite the naysayers, if you do it properly it is healthy! The key I have found is fresh veggies and high protein low fat foods (fish, chicken, etc.) They are great resources for energy. And water, water, water, water.... I drink about 80oz of water a day! :) Glad to see it's working for you, stick with it! :) I have also found that the Atkins advantage products are wonderful combatants of the dreaded sweet tooth! They have several products that you can buy and they really do help. I love the shakes, which have 15g of protein, and 2 net carbs. They are a great "quick" snack and really boost my energy! Sweets are something I have struggled with so it really helps! Good luck to you and Congrats on your loss so far! emoticon

    I am absolutely thrilled for you, you have no idea. I know what it's like to see your weight be a little less for the first time in so long. Keep up the fabulous work. It's pretty easy when you see the results as quickly as you do at the beginning of low carb!
