Success Journal
1. did upper body weight lifting
2. stayed within calorie range
3. Eating, exercise & motivation are high

I love the new, higher calorie range. I feel full I'm weighing in today at 180.2. Just a Murphy's Law sort of thing: why my body blips up a pound & a half on the "official" weigh in day, Thursday.

Yesterday, I lifted weights at the gym, instead of going to the kickboxing class. I did a full upper body workout. I told myself "Don't even think about quitting" whenever I felt like giving up. My arms are sore today!

But lately I've been avoiding alcohol because it interferes in my weight loss efforts. I keep it out of the house, to avoid temptation. But every time I go shopping, I get an urge to buy a bottle of wine. It seems to get easier to fight that urge each time I exercise my will power.

But I didn't fight my urge to buy a blender. I've been thinking of blenders for a while. The vitamix and blendtec are rather spendy, $500 range. I got the cheaper, 900 watt Kitchen Ninja. And I don't regret the purchase.

I really love Zumba dance workout. It's a fun, heart-pounding workout that exposes me to pop music that I don't usually listen to (I'm stuck in the 80s), and I'm learning the choreography that goes with the songs. So, here's a little sample of the playlist.

Till the World Ends -Britney Spears
Try -P!nk
Diamonds -Rihanna
The Time (Dirty Bit) -Black-eyed Peas
Shots -LMFAO
Firework -Katy Perry
Moves Like Jagger -Maroon 5
Don't Wake Me Up -Chris Brown
Waka Waka -Shakira

I have the urge to buy fast food every time I go to town and have learned to fight it fairly well now.

I love the music playlist you have. I was torn between the Ninja and the NutraBullit, I ended up with the NutriBullit and I really love it. I don't go a day without a green smoothie. I like the NB because it has a small footprint on my counter, but it is powerful, don't know if the Ninja grinds flaxseed good in a smoothie, but the NB does well. No way would I pay so much for a Vitamix, although I have heard good things about them, it's just not what I needed. Enjoy your Ninja!!! My MD said green smoothies are SO healthy for you. She was happy to hear I've started the habit. I can't go a day without my NB breakfast smoothie. They make me feel good.

I have the same issue with wine too, I enjoy it. I only have one 10 oz glass, and I have been cutting it out most days in hopes of losing more lbs than what I have been. Good for you for skipping it!! You have done well lately with the lbs lost.

Sorry I didn't make it to your podcasts, it is still on my list of things to do. I will get back to you on that. It's easier during the week when DH is not home.

Jas127, I go to Zumba classes at the campus rec center at the university I work for. It's lead by student Zumba instructors, who pick their own music: pop not Latin music like the CDs.

Try googling zumba pop song videos.

Sounds awesome! I need to try Zumba again. A friend of mine gave me a set of Zumba CDs and I found them to be terribly cheesy music that just wasn't for me. I think I need to try a different version because I hear so many great things about Zumba and it really does sound like fun. What Zumba do you use??
I bought the vitamix from QVC in five payments. I have wanted one for ever and finally found a deal that made it possible. I have heard really great things about the ninja.
