A Lenten Invitation... Dare to Live Fully Right Where You Are
The last few years (I cannot believe how time marches relentlessly on), while extremely challenging and rewarding, have also been isolating. I've missed the connections that so enriched my life, and I'm making this Lent an opportunity to renew and reconnect... with myself and with others.
A while back I realized that, despite how hard I've worked to do otherwise, I was struggling to live fully beyond the difficult circumstances of my life, past and present.
Though I am truly and deeply happy, abiding joy and peace remain elusive. Troubles big and small creep into my days and I find myself once again sitting and untangling knots... trying to free myself from the ways in which they bind me and hold me captive... and away from living fully the promises of redemption.
I long to wake in the morning- every morning - and unfold my hands to the heavens, slow down, trust and find the joy I'm aching for.
I long to spend my one life well, receiving each and every moment for what it really is - holy, ordinary, amazing grace.
I long to open my hand wide to God without question, without fear, not worrying about how my heart may shatter in the process.
I long to live Eucharisteo- the biblical Greek work that literally means 'to give thanks'... something Jesus did every day, regardless of His circumstances - in all of my circumstances.
I invite you to join me in my Lenten walk (detailed below) to discover how I might live with my hands wide open to receive what God gives, especially when what He gives may not seem like gifts... to fight for joy and gratitude in the midst of every-day challenges... to find a way to stay awake to this wild and beautiful life... daring to live fully right where I am.
Would you, right where you are, take the journey towards fullness of joy with me... begin to wake to the wonder of the small... begin to find joy in what really matters - in who really matters... begin to unlock the mystery of daring to live fully every moment of every day, regardless of your circumstances?

...And until we sit face to face, may God always and abundantly bless you, and those you love, in every way that you require. May he hold you gently in the palm of his hand in a very personal way, and may you rest in the fullness of his love, his grace, his strength, his wisdom, his rescue, his redemption, his healing, his inspiration, his restoration and his mercy as you require it! May you carry in your heart this coming Lenten season an extra special awareness of God's great love for you; and as Perfect Love rises anew for you this Easter, may you feel the grace of eucharisteo in your heart, and may you see his miracles all around you. I pray in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen!
From Ann Voskamp's website:
The One Thousand Gifts: a Small Group DVD Study includes five video teaching sessions (each 23 minutes long) from Ann Voskamp, filmed at the Voskamp’s farm in Ontario, Canada.
Each session invites participants to explore further the transformative spiritual discipline of chronicling gifts and provides a Scripture, prayer, and between-session activities inviting you to go deeper into the concept of grace explored in 'One Thousand Gifts: A Dare to Live Fully Right Where You Are' and on her daily blog ( www.aholyexperience.com/
“How do we find joy,” Ann Voskamp wondered, “in the midst of deadlines, debt, drama, and daily duties?” When your days are filled with the mundane, disappointment, or even darkness, how can you break the bondage of self-hatred and fear that has white-knuckle control on your life and instead embrace the everyday blessings that will immerse you in Christ’s fullness? How can you live your life with a heart overflowing with delight?
In the One Thousand Gifts: DVD Study, Ann encourages participants to really look at life and find the good in it. It’s only in this expressing of gratitude for the life we already have, that we discover the life we’ve always wanted … a life we can take, give thanks for, and break for others. We come to feel and know the impossible right down in our bones: we are wildly loved — by God.
Embark on this personal, honest and fresh exploration of what it means to be deeply fulfilled, wholly happy, and finally fully alive.
