Why lose weight?

Friday, February 15, 2013

I'm not totally sure why I want to lose weight.

Sparkguy says there is some motivation behind my wanting to lose weight. I just want to lose weight. I guess only other answer is that I want to stay as healthy as I can and as strong as I can for as long as I can.

Overweight is associated with so many bad things like heart disease, sleep apnea, diabetes, cancer. Who wouldn't want to maintain a good weight?

If I have some other deep personal reason for wanting to lose weight, maybe I just don't want to face it. I really don't know....

With a normal bmi I'm finding it tough to be motivated to get weight down where I want it to be. I fight myself all the time. Good success to you.

Without something driving you to your goals you'll either give up or you won't maintain. Maybe your reasoning isn't about what's wrong now but instead what you want to avoid down the road.

Some people do it for confidence and others for looks. I do it to prolong my life and I figure if I'm going to be around for a while, why would I not want to enjoy things like running around with my kids? Do I really want to be a lump on a log in 20 years from now, not being able to enjoy life as it passes me by?? Of course not!!

There's always something that drives us to do whatever it is that we're doing...I'm sure you have a bit of an idea but you're just not sure it's the right one yet =]

I like to feel light as a feather for getting around! Hope you figure it out!

I am at my best when I am lighter in weight! emoticon

I think when you don't have that much weight to lose, it can be more difficult to stay motivated. Generally my health is good, I do have BP issues but some of that is hereditary. Anyway it's controlled by meds, which I'll probably have to stay on whether I lose this extra 20 lbs or not. So to be totally honest, my biggest motivation is the extra blubber around my waistline. I have this fantasy about looking as hot as Anne Hathaway did in "The Dark Knight Rises" - totally shallow but it's the truth. (Cue Carly Simon's "You're So Vain" emoticon ) emoticon
