Yesterday I went to an information meeting about the SUNY Wellness Challenge between Onondaga Community College (where I work), Cayuga Community College, and SUNY Cortland. When I heard about it a couple weeks ago I went, "hmmmm, I could do this now!"
My friend Cyndy is ALWAYS doing something active and wellness related. When I mentioned it to her she said, "I'd be on your team!" I was touched. Truly.
As of today, it is official! Cyndy and I are on a team of 2. We named ourselves the Purple Cobras. An ode to the movie Dodgeball, which we both dearly love. She has a "thing" for Ben Stiller and I have a "thing" for Vince Vaughn. Oh yeah, and it is a hilarious movie!
We start on February 25th and it continues for 8 weeks. In that time we track:
*our fitness activities
*amount of fruits and vegetables we eat
From each of those we earn a number of points.
We can earn extra points for getting our blood pressure checked, blood glucose, give blood, and cholesterol screening. If we lose weight during this, we get points for the percentage of weight loss.
I will be attempting to lose weight AND continue my good habits.
This is more motivation to keep me focused and moving. Plus some great fun with my friend Cyndy!
