Pitch-in Craze

Happy Valentines Day Sparkies!!!! emoticon

Ok, i am sooooo over my department. It seems like we have a pitch-in every week. Super Bowl pitch-in, Valentines pitch-in, Farewell pitch-in, you name it - we have a pitch for everything. They are not even good pitch-ins! Mostly cake, pies, cookies, chips & dip, cheese and just a bunch of crap. I usually sign up for drinks -so I don't have to cook, or something healthy like apples & oranges, but I'm just over it.

Today so many kind people has put so many cakes & candies on my desk & I hate it. My sugars are just now going down & I refuse to ruin the good I have done all week!

Even though I have been tempted with sweets all day I still feel proud because I still went to the GYM & worked out during my lunch break! Yayyyyyyyy ME!!!!!

I want to coordinate the next pitch-in-heck. Maybe I can suggest a salad theme pitch-in. Ceasar salad, chicken salad, tuna salad, Asian salad, fruit salad...IDK.
Something wth a healthy spin at least!!!!

    Oh you're good, my nemesis is sweets but I'm picky on which ones. I was so happy when they started buying junk foods I didn't like or didn't see as worth the indulgence. Now most of the new executives are into healthy eating or kosher eating so we don't have as many parties as before. I agree with the others and you - start bringing in healthy treats. I also think you should post that photo you have on your blog with you working out so hard. With a little note that says something like "eating sweets got me here - I work to hard to continue, thank you but not this time"

    Post a sign over your desk that you are abstaining from sugar for three day cycles. It helped get people to leave me alone. I gave up on going to the lunchroom too and just ate at my desk or in the car and then went for a walk. Best of luck with this. I love your attitude. I also see you have some BL friends. I joined a local BL contest through May. It is helping.

    WOW! sounds like all the stuff-n-grunt type events we used to have when I worked for the State's welfare/Aid to Children/Human resources whatever it was back then (SRS? rehab services) ha! been so long, I've forgotten!). All the job stresses seemed to bring the junk food addicts out of every unit to bring in foods we don't need or want. I used to bring plates of cut up veggies and a yogurt/cream cheese type dressing just to fight back. I'm sure you aren't the only one. Maybe you can Spread the Spark by using SparkPeople colors and printing off SparkPeople cards etc from the resources pages and post SparkPeople ideas onto flyers ..



Maybe even print off a few "office appropriate" exercise ideas -

Even try to bring some lower-fat "goodies" from Chef Meg's book and recipe section!!

It may be scary to offer and to do it, but I wouldn't be a bit surprised if you got much more positive comments then the snarky remarks from those who still don't wish to make lifestyle changes. Who knows, your Human Resources departments might have some handouts from the insurance companies etc about health benefits available to employees (gym memberships or whatever...)??
