Food Pushers

Thursday, February 14, 2013

Man, the food pushers are out in full force today, as expected! I'm glad I gave some thought to my strategy for handling the holiday. Sure, I could have a cookie, or a piece of cake. But I'm doing my best to avoid those foods for the time being and it would take something pretty darn irresistible to get me to give in to temptation today. Still, I heard the whole gamut:

"Can I cut you a slice?"
"One cookie won't hurt!"
"You've got to try this!"

I declined it all with a smile but couldn't help thinking how funny the food pushing phenomena is. I mean, one offer is just polite, two to make sure but three?? At a certain point you realize you are dealing with someone who isn't merely polite but won't take no for an answer! At one point she started trying to lead me over to the treat table, even reaching for my hand as if to pull me along! Maybe she felt like she was giving me permission to indulge. But I don't need her permission, I need my own! emoticon

I don't appreciate those food pushers who are thin & then give the impression that the one who needs to drop pounds is a hog - when they finally cave to the temptations put on them! emoticon

If someone doesn't have the strength to say no it makes them feel better to have someone else indulge with them - Misery loves company!

emoticon Congrats for staying strong emoticon
