A Very Sad Week

Thursday, February 14, 2013

On Saturday while the blizzard was raging in Maine, my sister who had been in NY with my parents, along with her husband called to say that my mother who has been ill for a very long time, was failing rapidly and that I needed to get to NY. We were unable to leave until Sunday morning due to weather conditions, but after experiencing car troubles and losing about two hours of what should have been travel time,we arrived at my parents' home at 9 Sunday night. Although she was not conscious, I believe she knew that all her children were there with her. She died early Monday afternoon. The funeral was yesterday. My parents celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary last August. That is not typo, my father is devastated, which is an understatement. I am too sad to think of much else, especially my eating. Today is my weigh in day, but don't have my scale, it will have wait until I am home, though I do not know when that will be. I will be back to SP full force then. emoticon

I am so sorry. My Dad died this past summer... 60 years for my Mom and Dad... and yes, very difficult for Mom. Know that your Mom is in a better place and she knows you were with her. Thoughts and prayers to you and your family. Hang in there.. you have lots of people who care!

I'm sorry that you lost your mother. It's too bad that you couldn't get there sooner because of the weather. I believe your mom knew you were there. Even though she was not conscious her spirit was aware of what was going on around her. It's a rough time to go through when you lose a loved one. My dad passed away 18 years ago from cancer. Take the time you need to grieve, but remember to take care of yourself too.

I am so sorry to hear about this loss. It was a blessing that you were able to eventually make it to her bedside before she died and that her spirit was able to feel the presence of all her children surrounding her.

You are in my thoughts and prayers. I am impressed that even during this tragic time you have kept your long-range health plan in view and intend on returning to your program when you return home.
