The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous man runs into it and is safe. (Proverbs 18:10)
I have been really touched by this verse during the past few days. It's such a powerful image - I can just imagine a really strong fortress, and the safety and security it would provide in times of danger. The name of our Lord - Jesus - is that strong fortress. In His name we can find safety, security, strength, protection. How great to know that whenever we are fearful, or in danger, or just confused or discouraged, or doubtful, we can call on His name... and know that His love is there to protect and console us, to give us the strength we need in any situation.
I am remembering the night, a couple of years ago, that I was woken from sleep by the shaking of my house - it was a 7.3 earthquake, with it's epicentro about 80 miles north of us. I jumped out of bed, got in a cupboard doorway (I live on the 3rd floor), hung on to the sides of the doorway as my house just shook back and forth. I was terrified, and all I could do the whole time was repeat out loud, over and over, the name of Jesus. He did protect us - damage and loss of life was minimal, despite the intensity of the quake.
Hello, my friends! As we start Lent today, I would like to share a link to a blog that I came upon the other day. The author is Daniel Harris - and I really like the way he writes. He was asked by his church to write a short reflection for each day of Lent, and he decided to include them in his blog, hence "40 Days of Prayer: Daily Emails for Lent".
If you would like to check it out, here's the link for today's reading.
I am so sorry I am posting this so late, but it was a very busy day, and this is the first chance I have had to post.
I'm off to bed. Among my Lenten resolutions is one to get to bed early and get up early enough to have time for prayer and for exercise. So goodnight, my loyal friends!
Blessings and hugs to each of you!
