A good day!

Continuing on with my trend of updating y'all about things that have absolutely nothing to do with health or wellness... emoticon

I met with my advisor today (finally!) and I feel soooo much better about things now! I did not mention my "seriously reconsidering my decision to go to grad school" thoughts but I was totally transparent about my health issues, research concerns, and lack of productivity so far this semester. Guys, my advisor is awesome. You all need to remind me of that the next time I start going crazy, m'kay? I was all "My mind was on other things and I have accomplished nothing this semester - I'm the worst grad student ever!" and he was all "you've got your fingers in three projects and we just got some moolah. Carve out some time for lab work and you'll be fine!"

And then I was all "...oh. that actually doesn't sound so bad." emoticon

So I guess that puts an end to this month's quarter-life crisis. I still miss my old salary, there are lots of things I want to do besides just work work work, and I would like to transition over to different research at some point. But as a good friend pointed out recently, the whole point of doing a PhD is just to get the degree. Get in, do what you have to do, and get out again ASAP. It doesn't matter if you don't love it. You can completely change your career interests (and make a lot more money!) once you have the degree in hand.

Yes, I realize this is a complete 180 from three days ago. Oy.

So that's the plan, at least for now: get my health back and focus on doing what has to be done to get out with my degree ASAP. And, you know, have some fun, eat some good eats, work out some good workouts, and otherwise stop freaking out in the meantime.

Happy Sparking!
