Diet Coke detox update

Hi all! I've been detoxing off Diet Coke since the last week of December. It was super hard for the first week or so, then the cravings tapered off dramatically. Now, even on the days I used to have it the most, I rarely think about it. However, I do still think about it and have to confess I've had about 1 Diet Coke a week.

It has also helped with my sugar cravings quite a bit, and my stomache feels a lot better; not bloated any more.

Although I'm happy with my progress, my goal is to quit it completely.

Of course, now I notice how other foods affect me. Bread? argh - bloating, and triggers binges. Sugary foods? The same.

It seems I've set myself on a path to lower carb living (not to be confused with low-carb, I still eat plenty of fruit). Not all days are like that, but if I keep the right food here, I eat lots more vegetables, lean meat, and fruit, and whole grains.

And this might be TMI, but with all the whole grains, well, you know! "Regular" has a whole new meaning!

FYI, along with Diet Coke, I gave up aspartame all together. No Crystal light either. I sometimes miss that stuff but I don't miss the way I felt on it. I feel great most of the time, including higher energy levels!

If you are trying to give it up, good luck! It feels a lot better on the other side of the fence (even though I still sneak over once and a while)! Cheers! (with water)

    i once was a 3 fisted drinker, and never thought I'd give it up, ever! As I focused on ice water, wasn't thirsty.... but i realized along the way i liked the ice cold and the bubblies... my diabetes without drugs book by S. Cohen suggested a chemical free alternative of soda water with a little fruit juice or mashed fruit... i found i was just as good, now, with the water... it's been a few years... and rarely crave it anymore... it was worth the efforts to quit... $$ for nuttin... now i take that same $$ for fresh freggies, nice lean meats, whole grains like wild/brown rice blends or quinoa... all the things i used to think were too expensive ;)

    Good for you! I'm working on getting rid of "anything white" in my diet and find that I like the way I feel when I'm successful at keeping away from the stuff.

    Aspertame is bad stuff. Good for you in giving it up. Crystal Light does make Crystal Light Pure, which is made with stevia. You can also add fresh fruit or juice to water or club soda to liven up your water intake.

    emoticon I gave up cola sodas on Dec 31 1999 and have not had any since Some days I wonder what it would taste like if I had a sip, but not going there
