Since Implementing Healthy habits...

Since I started adopting healthy habits, with the help of Sparkpeople, I've noticed the following:

1. My emotional eating is getting better. I was under stress and very sad this week because we had to put our dog down. In the past I would have turned to food for comfort. I didn't this time. That's a success.

2. My clothes are getting bigger on me. I've had to take several pants in and give some things away. I will soon need to get some "intermediate" clothes because my current clothing will be too big as I continue to slim down. Woo hoo!

3. My atittude is better-- I feel in control of my health. It is not "just what it is." It is something I can and do work to control.

4. I am more active. There is room for improvement with exercise, but I am better than I was previously.

5. I am eating healthier food--mostly fruits, vegetables and lean proteins. I am not eating any fast food, and staying away from processed foods as much as reasonably possible.

6. I am reading labels in the times I do consume processed food.

7. I am eating out less and cooking more. I am alo experimenting with more healthy recipes.

    SP has made a huge difference for me:

The nutrition tracker - I made a promise to myself that I would track all the fuel (food) I consume, even if doing so makes me go over the set caloric range. I pay close attention to the fat and protein amounts because if I short myself in those areas than I become ravenous and want to eat, eat, eat. Plus protein helps me stay full longer. I also track sodium and I eat on the low end of that figure.

The water tracker - I only track 64 ounces per day, even if I go over that. This has significantly reduced the amount of headaches, definitely cleared up my skin, reduced the winter yuckiness I used to get, and most important, that 64 ounces of water day is really what made the difference for me in losing weight.

Getting out of SP what I put into it. For me that means:

Coming out of my comfort zone and not being so shy.

It also means:

Joining SparkTeams and participating in them even if it is just to greet new members.

SparkFriending people and not just waiting for them to friend me first!

Making a positive blog post every day about things I am learning or trying to master so I can look back on the posts when I need inspiration and motivation.

Supporting and encouraging fellow Sparkers as we all journey together.

    I am working on my emotional eating too. It's hard, but it can be done. Baby steps, right?
