Well, it is almost halfway through February, tomorrow (Valentines Day) will be the half way point of this short month. Today is a good day for a few reasons.

1) I was able to run outside for the first time this month! Between being sick for most of Feb and horrid weather, I have been logging miles on the dreadmill at the gym. So, after 40 miles on the 'mill to start the month, I did 6.2 miles in the glorious sunshine and 40 deg "warmth" (for those in FL, 40 in Feb is pretty nice for around here!). I did 2 laps around our campus 5k route, going 10k in 49:34, at a 7:59 according to my Garmin. I am psyched, running that well for a 10k training run is a big boost of confidence getting ready for my 10 mile race coming up on 24 Feb.

2) I had my lowest weigh in of the year this morning, at 178 lbs. My lowest last year, before the holiday season, was 177. At 176, I officially transition from an "overweight" BMI to a "normal" BMI. So close! I have been stuck around 180 +/- 2 lbs for a while, but I think I am finally going to break through the plateau I have been on. (I know, the BMI is just an arbitrary number, but it does make a convenient target for a goal, plus I don't think anyone likes being called "obese" or even "overweight")

I am planning another run tomorrow, probably a LSR, then we head to Sunday River, ME for a ski weekend with my brother and his family.
