Well, it is almost halfway through February, tomorrow (Valentines Day) will be the half way point of this short month. Today is a good day for a few reasons.

1) I was able to run outside for the first time this month! Between being sick for most of Feb and horrid weather, I have been logging miles on the dreadmill at the gym. So, after 40 miles on the 'mill to start the month, I did 6.2 miles in the glorious sunshine and 40 deg "warmth" (for those in FL, 40 in Feb is pretty nice for around here!). I did 2 laps around our campus 5k route, going 10k in 49:34, at a 7:59 according to my Garmin. I am psyched, running that well for a 10k training run is a big boost of confidence getting ready for my 10 mile race coming up on 24 Feb.

2) I had my lowest weigh in of the year this morning, at 178 lbs. My lowest last year, before the holiday season, was 177. At 176, I officially transition from an "overweight" BMI to a "normal" BMI. So close! I have been stuck around 180 +/- 2 lbs for a while, but I think I am finally going to break through the plateau I have been on. (I know, the BMI is just an arbitrary number, but it does make a convenient target for a goal, plus I don't think anyone likes being called "obese" or even "overweight")

I am planning another run tomorrow, probably a LSR, then we head to Sunday River, ME for a ski weekend with my brother and his family.

40's a heat wave in MT too, lol. My kids think they don't have to wear their jackets and fight with the aids at recess about it constantly emoticon

    Those are awesome victories! I'm glad you're feeling better. I imagine the treadmill gets really, REALLY dull after awhile.

    Wow, so much awesome news! Keep up the great work. I am gald that you are feeling better and were able to run outside for a change. Running outside is so much better for my spirit and the sun is an added bonus!

    Glad to read you are feeling better. This winter has been a tough one, even here in Florida. I have been fighting nasal congestion for the past month. I'm pretty sure it has to do with me volunteering at my son's school and coming in contact with 900+ kids a day.

Congrats on logging in those miles despite the weather. Running outdoors is so much more enjoyable than the dreadmill; the sights and fresh air helps the time fly by.

    The numbers don't really mean anything, but they can be huge psychologically. Pre-Spark, I bounced off a number just above the top of healthy BMI several times. At times I thought I couldn't get into health BMI territory.

Fortunately, that turned out not to be the case once I figured out that I had to track and control what I ate in addition to exercising. Top of the healthy BMI range looks way up there now!
