Looking at 34
Wednesday, February 13, 2013
On Friday, I'm turning 34.
My father and I have talked a little bit about both being "late bloomers". He came into his own physically in his 20s. I'm doing the same in my 30s, both with fitness and health, and with my career, along with dozens of other smaller things that all add up to a whole lot of awesome.
While 33, I have done a lot of amazing things.
I've held my first part time jobs (3 of them) since the mental collapse that sent me out on disability in 2008.
I landed my first role in a professional show.
I started taking dance class, a long standing promise to myself.
I have learned to attack auditions with a confidence I've never had before.
I performed a comic role in a show and discovered my strengths as an actress, and won an award along the way.
I've discovered my style, and am getting more and more bold about dressing the way I like, that makes me feel happy and beautiful.
I finished a half marathon.
That's a wild list, and one I'm really happy with. Now it's time to start thinking about 34. What will 34 look like?
While 34, I'm going to keep dancing, training as much as I can.
I'm auditioning, looking for that second professional show.
Building a show with friends.
Training for and finishing a 10k, a half marathon, and a full.
Putting on my first show as a musical director.
I'm sure a lot more is going to happen, but so far, those are my "before 35" goals.
