Winter blues

Wednesday, February 13, 2013

I can't wait for the time change so I can start walking again. The whole winter thing gets really old, doesn't it? My body screams for March every year, when the light is fresher, the blooms are bloomier, and I shake off the doldrums and feel like walking after work instead of crawling into bed after work. I can feel my winter coat starting to shed.

I used to hate winter more when I was working, exactly for the reason you stated. Now, that I can walk in the day, I don't mind it as much. My only problem now is beyond my immediate street, they salt the heck out of the roads in anticipation of snow. They don't do my road because it runs off to a pond. So, my dog and I walk up and down, up and down - going a bit stir crazy. So, I'll be glad for spring when we can do walks that cover more ground.

I may not be quite as affected by winter in general, but I know I always hate that point in October or November when the time change makes it start getting dark by 5:30 pm. I'm totally with you on loving the point when it goes the other way and it's still light after work for a significant length of time.

I hate winter. It's dark when you leave for work and it's dark when you get home. Thank God for windows during the day.
