Spousal support!!

Wednesday, February 13, 2013

Yesterday I sadly had to break my workout streak. I am in week 6 and have been so consistent with my 4 day a week workout routine. Usually on Tuesday mornings I hit the gym from 5:30-7am so I am home before hubby needs to head to work (kids are sleeping).

This weekend we got hit pretty hard by Nemo (blizzard) and my weekend was all thrown off because I was stuck at work (hospital) for 2 days and got no sleep despite trying. My street was poorly plowed and then it rained and turned to ice.

So long story short my hubby needed to leave extra early for work to avoid traffic as he was afraid his little car with crappy wheels would be a recipe for disaster. I was so upset that he was messing with my schedule and was more concerned about my streak than his safety.

I tried to get up at 4:30 to hit the gym but I just couldn't do it! My brain and body just laughed off the alarm clock and that was the end of that. My husband felt so bad about me missing the gym - he was very apologetic and then even went after work to buy brand new tires for his car so it wouldn't happen again.

I guess I was just really shocked by his level of support as he's always been very ambivalent in the past. He loves me as I am and does not see me as I see me. I think he's literally "blindly" in love! He's also heard it all before but i think my commitment this time is actually making an impression.

Well it was a real nice gesture and I got right back on my routine today- with an extra smile on my face. emoticon

What a guy! I love our supportive partners. It's especially surprising when they come around from being ambivalent toward our SP obsession!

What a lovely gesture. He must realize that things are different this time. Once they really do know this is it, they do change. Once my dh realized this time is it, and I'm sticking to it, he stopped tempting me with stopping for ice cream, and he quit bringing Hershey bars home by the dozen, etc. And once even asked if there was anything he could pick up to aid in my exercise routine, knowing I wouldn't go anywhere to exercise. It was sweet of him, not knowing how I'd react to that. Once he realized it wasn't just another diet, I was changing for good, eating habits and all, he has slowly started joining me, and offers healthy meal ideas, with help too. But, if I do something out of the normal healthy stuff, it is a signal to him that I'm open to junk. So it can easily go the other direction too, so I'm careful about where I have my treats, not at home.

Hopefully now you can get on another streak, but I understand how that can wreck a schedule.

Great job getting back on it!

The streak is not as important as that loving gesture your husband showed and more importantly you got right back to it!! emoticon
