Sleepless in CT

I did not sleep well... I have not been sleeping well lately and last night I woke up at 2:30 AM and couldn't get back to sleep. I don't know how I've managed to stay awake until now but here I am... and I won't be getting home before about 6 PM tonight. I brought alot of healthy food to eat at work but being tired is a huge trigger for me. When I am tired I desire comfort food which to me means carbs and sweets. What I wouldn't give for a bagel, or a muffin, or some candy. I am going to do my best to just say no to those kinds of foods. I'll let you know how it goes.

    Have you ever tried melatonin or valerian root? These are popular over the counter herbs that can help you fall asleep at night.

I'm usually a good sleepr, but when I have trouble falling asleep or staying asleep, it's 99.9% because of bottled up stress. I would advised you to take at least 10 minutes before going to bed with something that will relaxes you, such as a hot bath or meditating to soft music on a yoga mat. And of course, about 2 hours before bedtime avoid anything that may overly stimulate you, such as caffeine or possibly watching an engaging TV show or movie...

    Well, I did ok until about 3:30 when I had a 3 small pieces of candy at school... and then when I got home at 5 I ate peanut butter with choco chips... that with some crackers and cheese was my dinner... I know - not very good choices at all. I am disappointed in myself. But today is a new day and I hope to have a better day today.

    Good Luck. Try your very best to stay on track. Maybe try something like a low cal hot cocoa or a latte. Those are comforting but won't bust your plan.Hang in there!! emoticon emoticon
