The horrible, very bad day

Wednesday, February 13, 2013

So this morning I woke up to my husband talking on the phone. It was 7 am. He's supposed to be working at that time, so I wondered why he was still home. Come to find out he couldn't get into the car because someone tried to jimmy the lock and our keys wouldn't work.

Our taxes came back this week, so we were due for something stupid and expensive to happen. So far we've had to pay a locksmith to open the car and now my husband is missing work and waiting for the car to be fixed. It's tough to be a one car family. Who knows how much this will cost? It's already over $100 just to open the car, there are other things that need to be fixed and an oil change while we're at it, so I feel that it will be around $1,000 by the time we're done... Hopefully I'm just really overestimating it.

So now I'm still going to go up to the school and volunteer, it is Wednesday. I'm hoping that I can convince the husband to at least come up to the school and have lunch with the kids.

It could have been worse, no windows were bashed in, they didn't get into the car, nothing was stolen. It's just tough being next to a popular park and railway. I will be having a nap sometime this week, but today won't be that day...

car troubles are frustrating especially when you only have one car for the family.

Good for you- to find something positive to say about the situation - nothing was stolen. Being grateful that there is not more to deal with is a fantastic outlook! emoticon

    Sorry your car get vandalized.
We live in a smaller town yet things like this happen too.
It is just younger people wanting 'something for nothing'.
Of course if they would put all that effort into working a job
    they would be further ahead.

I do hope the expenses are less than you figured.

It's always a terrible feeling when something like that happens. Feels like you've been violated. Ugh. I read in your status update later that things turned out for the best (I am THAT far behind with my Sparking, yes...), so I'm glad for that for you!

I would call this a bad day as well!! Hoping it improved throughout the day and tomorrow is much better~~I know the feeling. Glad your car didn't have anymore damage than it did. We lock ours as well and it sits outside in our gated resort home but we have had break ins here as well. Seems if someone whats something bad enough they can get it.

It's never good to have damage done to things we own. I hope the cost isn't too expensive; and right you are about getting the tax money back and having something come up to need to spend it. Early in our marriage we always looked forward to a refund, got it, then needed some new appliance that went caput. Have a woderful Valentines Day.

Frustrating to be the victim of a crime. Check with your homeowners insurance - it may possibly cover vandalism/criminal damage.

I'm so sorry that some jerk messed up the lock on your car. Grateful that nothing more than the lock was broken and nothing was stolen. I hope your husband can make up the time later. You might check to see if your insurance will help with the expences. I have full insurance on my old van and it covers opening the van and tow truck services. Hope that helps. Hope the rest of your day goes much better. emoticon
