First Goal-5%

Wednesday, February 13, 2013

I think I figured it out... or figured it out for me. My first goal will be to lose 5%. Realistic-CHECK...Measurable-C
HECK!!!

Again I hold fast to the thought that we are capable of accomplishing so much more than we THINK we can. I KNOW I can get to my goal weight of 145 lbs, but it will need to be step by step by step. The first step is my 5%. I just started Spark people so I'm going to use my starting weight of 350. 5% of that is 17.5 lbs.. so let's just round up to 18 lbs!
That seems completely possible!

I also know to do this I'm going to need to make some BIG changes. As you read on you might think that I'm setting myself up for failure, but I really don't think I am. I'm fighting for my life here. This weight loss literally means the difference between life and death for me and I am willing to fight with all that I have and all that I am. I have a LOT of living to do!

So moving on and starting today:

*I will have no fast food and no soda. I did this a few years ago and actually didn't have either of these for an entire year. At some point I will allow myself healthier options such as subway, etc. But for right now, I need to go cold turkey or it just is not going to work for me.

*I will work out 5 days a week at least 30 minutes. I'll define this more as I move forward with some proven consistency. Right now, anything goes. If I'm increasing my heart rate and movement, it counts.

*I will eat within my calorie limits set by spark people every day and do my best to record my food. I know there will be days where this is harder to do than others...so read on.

Within all of this I'll also be teaching myself some grace and be able to cut myself some slack. Somewhere along the line I learned that if I don't do it perfectly then it's not worth doing. This is SO worth doing. I'll reach my first goal...even if a slip up happens. It won't be the end of the world and it's not the time to scrap it all. But to just get back up and keep fighting.

That's it, that's my plan. So stay tuned folks... this chicky is getting it done!

Those are great goals. I've been thinking about changing my weight loss goal to a 5 or 10% to make it more manageable. Fantastic!!

You are spot on about anything that raises your heart rate is exercise.

Anything from cleaning the house to running marathons count.

I do a minimum of PROPER exercise ie X trainer for 30 minutes a day but I have really increased what I do for the rest of the night. No longer do I sit for 4 - 5 hours gauping at the tele - Now its at least 1 hour of activity - Gardening Cleaning Walking.

Its made a massive diference.

Well done - Keep it simple and you never know we may be able to keep to it.

Good luck
