Preparing to Paint

Wednesday, February 13, 2013

Yesterday my son and I removed everything but a dresser from the guest room, then washed the walls and woodwork in preparation for painting. The room is now a dark cafe au lait. Since we're selling, it seemed a good time to lighten the room to neutralize it for potential buyers. Funny how you can live with a color, then find it needs to be changed to please someone else. As Realtors remind us, once the house goes on the market, it is no longer ours.
We have been making little fixes---those small problems that you ignore, but become glaring when you think someone will think you don't maintain the house. Everytime I can, I'm cleaning out a cupboard or drawer or closet to pare down and straighten. Neatness sells, at least I hope so.
I'm off to the store today to choose a color and will touch up the moulding first, then paint the walls on Thursday.

  Good luck on selling.
Sounds like you take very good care of your house.
I pray it sells to who it should go to@ the time it should!

Our neighbor's ( young couple)had their's up. Got full-price offer 1st day. That loan did'nt get approved. Within a week they got full-asking price. That loan fell threw.
With in two-weeks' her company moved& she lost her job. They just had their 2 nd baby!
God works in His ways. I do keep them on my prayer -list.
This is a testimony to trusting God. Not to scare you! Lol
Have fun painting!

I love to paint but dislike all the preparation. Glad you are getting everything done. It's harder work than some realize. There's a lot of arm use, eye stain and bending. Good luck and thanks for your comment on my family ski trip! emoticon emoticon

Yes I agree, clean, bright and uncluttered makes the place look bigger and nicer on the eyes.
