If you judge people ,you have no time to love them." Mother Teresa

Have you ever not liked someone just by appearance. I have. A new guy started at work a couple years ago he was tall and had a very long goatee , and tattoos . He seemed menacing to me . We had to work near each other all the time . He never talked to me and I thought Thank God.

One day goatee guy came to work with a dead baby tee shirt on. I wasn't aware that dead babies was a hard rock band. But I did know that his shirt with not only the words but a picture of a tiny unborn baby bothered me because I like some women had miscarriages. I saw him wear that shirt numerous time each time it made me madder and more afraid.

Finally after months I could take no more. I walked up to goatee man and told him just what I felt about his shirt and how he scared me. Then a weird thing happened he not only apologized he said he didn't realize my point of view. He never wore the shirt again . Then he started talking to me. You guessed Mike, goatee man was a super nice guy. He now holds an almost management position with the company and his goatee is shorter and I couldn't be happier for my new very good friend.

Not judging also goes for exercise equipment, or running, or skiing, what seems menacing can and will be a lot of fun if you let it. Don't be afraid to try new foods, what looks funny or gross may be delicious and good for you.

I learned to stop judging people to let more love out and understand more. I am not Mother Teresa I have a long way to go but she is an awesome motivator and I will let her lead the way.

Glad all worked out with Mike. I'd have not liked that shirt either. Good for you for having the courage to bring it up. Communication is key. And you're right, we should never judge anyone solely based on how they look! emoticon

That's the trouble with first impressions, they're usually wrong.
We all have preconceived ideas as you say, the lesson is to recognise this and be open minded.

    Great insight Joanne! emoticon

I found that out myself. I once fainted on the
street and a young woman with tattoos stopped
her car and helped me till I was on my feet.
She wanted to take me to see a doctor, but I said
I was OK and she drove me home. At 5 pm, there
was a knock on the door and it was the young
woman, Janice, with a bunch of flowers for me.
She told me she thought about me all day and
came by to see how I was doing. I never ever
judge anyone by appearances anymore. She
was such a sweetheart. I'm glad that you finally
got to talked to Mike and found out he was a nice
    guy despite his appearance.

    Love your blogs. emoticon emoticon
