Warning: The following blog is about menstruation.
My motivation is always internal. I like to read stories and use SP also, but it all has to come from inside first. That internal motivation brings me here and helps me get things done.
Then I hit a wall, every month. It's the same wall and I know it's going to be there every month: the menstruation wall. I even know when it's going to be here every month but I can't do anything about it really. My body wants me to stay in bed. Seriously, if I had no responsibilities, that's where I would spend those 48 hours. I would sleep. I'm usually not hungry, just exhausted.
But I do have responsibilities so I do have to get up. Once I get up and get moving, my mind turns to food and there are only two types of food I want: chocolate and meat. Seriously, a chocolate covered steak would be the perfect food for these 2 days!
So these are the days I am fighting with myself. Other days, I love veggies and coming with new meal ideas, and I look forward to my workouts! Seriously, I know I'm crazy, but I enjoy the music and exercise.
But these two days, I have to fight with myself not to go lay down and not to attempt to pour chocolate on a steak!
These are the days I need outside help. I need someone to talk to or something to read that puts it back in perspective and maybe even makes it funny (like the ad that always said something about having a "happy period") but it's always such a taboo topic. I haven't seen any Spark Teams about menstruation, but I can think of some interesting descriptions for them! "While everything else is flowing out, let the motivation flow in." "Don't let your period be the end to your healthy lifestyle." Etc. Hehehehe. Yes, they're corny I know but they're the kind of thoughts that get me through this crazy time. And no, I wouldn't really expect a team about menstruation but it does make me feel better to talk about it.
