Clearly I'm behind in recapping my adventure weekends. ;) Despite my new (and temporary) trend of not exercising in January, I was pretty busy every weekend with a fitness related event. :)
During the weekend of Jan 12-13 I got to meet up with some Sparkers from far & farther! 4A-HEALTHY-BMI (Angela) was in town for a convention so GEE-KNEE (Jeannie) and NIMNIX (Xin-min)came down from Long Beach to San Diego.
With my 5 year Sparkversary coming up on the 15th of Jan, I was filled with nostalgia, and gratefulness for the wonderful people I've been able to meet through Spark. Both Jeannie and Anja have been good and close SparkFriends that I've been able to see throughout the years. They've each lost over 180 lbs. (The side note being that I could have passed that milestone as well a couple years ago.)
For having so much in common, we are definitely a demonstration in diversity - with our own struggles, our own victories and experiences...and our own choices in exercise, tracking, and nutrition plans! It's fascinating. Xin added more uniqueness to our team because she is a fighter and trainer, with her own perspective and references.
Angela carries a portable scale, with a commitment to tracking that I wish I could emulate. Here she is measuring the quarter of a pistachio baklava that we split after our protein-filled greek salads. :)

Although the temps were dipping down into the 30s for the low, we had planned an after-dinner jacuzzi dip! :D It was boiling hot. Hahahaa! And we convinced someone to take a picture of our GUN show!!
Good morning, sunshine!
We slept over in hopes of an awesome workout in the morning. Good thing Jeannie is so tiny, because she and I squeezed onto this one. Following dinner the night before we made a grocery store run to pick up some greek yogurt for Angela, and some kind of healthy version of instant oatmeal for the rest of us. At her recommendation, we tried "spun/creamed honey". Pretty good stuff!

Although we had a good strength session with some AMAZING moves demonstrated by NIMNIX (like this awesome impossible spider hop rotation/crazy thing).. I really should have pushed harder for heading out to the coast because even though it was a cold day, the views were crisp and gorgeous. Next time I'm determined to be a better advocate for my home town! Also, we didn't realize there was a TruFoods cafe right down the street that we could've visited for breakfast!
There will be a next time. We will make it so!
