Listening to my intuition

Tuesday, February 12, 2013

Today's message from SparkCoach was to eat intuitively. Your
body will tell you what it wants and how much if you pay
attention. I tried it and it worked. Now the key will be to
listen to what my body is telling me and forget the mindless
snacking. Think about what I am doing as I reach for a less-that-
healthy snack. Now to repeat this behavior tomorrow.
Now only did I listen to my body when it can to eating, I also
listened to my body when it said I needed to move a little
more today. The sun was shining and the snow was melting.
I logged over my 10K steps but also spent an hour plus, shoveling
snow off the sidewalk at church. When I started, it was soft and
very heavy. As soon as the sun started setting, it was getting
harder to move and more stuck on. I kept at it until it was all
done. Pastor had tried the snowblower but it just didn't work.
I should sleep well tonight.
Thanks for stopping by and have a great night. Learn to listen
to your body when you plan your meals. You may be surprised
at what it tells you. HUGS!

Good tip! I am trying to ask myself "Are you really hungry or do you just want to eat?" And if the answer is NO, I am TRYING to listen!

In some ways I'm jealous! I wish I could tell the difference between my body telling me what it needs and my anxiety telling me what it wants... because internally, both signals tend to appear as "hunger". So, unfortunately, I have to count on logic and record keeping to remind myself I have already given my body what it needs, and I need to do things OTHER than eating to handle what appears as hunger when the record says it is not.

Still, whether our methods are the same or not... our paths are still leading toward healthy, balanced living. Spark on, my friend! emoticon

p.s. that shoveling? GREAT workout!

Maybe one reason we folks in Alabama have a higher obesity rate than people from your part of the world is that we don't have to shovel snow???? emoticon

Argh, heavy snow-shoveling! (I'm definitely out of practice on that one.) Now skating on thin ice? I'm getting better every day!! (It is so icy here!)

Thanks for the reminder about listening to my body; I want to do that more than I have been. Today's a good day to start!

I love when my body tells me to eat avocado, yum . You need a lot of fuel after all that shoveling and walking . I try to buy less snack foods so they are not there to tempt but hard when you have kids. I hate when my body says chips but I know that is the hormones talking and I block my ears and say I can't hear you loll

The body is very smart, if we just listen to it. I cannot even comprehend the amount of physical effort all that snow shoveling required. You have to be one strong lady! I am in awe. Just wish I had enough air to walk 1/4 a mile. Keep up the good work!
