Says ortho doc: "This hip joint should be almost impossible to dislocate....You would have to yank the whole thing apart to do it"
Says me after almost dislocating it.: Ouch.
yes, I had to put it to the test. And it passed the test but the fact that it partially dislocated put the fear of God into me. I cannot be blithe. I must follow hip precautions and be DILIGENT not to bend in the manner that I have bent these past seven times that resulted in so much pain and expense
So that messes up tomorrow's workout that's for sure....and it may be even longer that I am sidelined....I have to ask Herr Doktor. But the good news is that I worked out today. And yesterday. And many days before that.
The bad news is that the rheumy put me on prednisone 5-10 mg a day. I've been only taking 5 mg. It has not significantly affected my pain....but it HAS created hunger. I pigged out all night long last night. And counted the minutes til mealtimes today. NOT GOOD. I weighed myself. and the two pounds that I THOUGHT I'd gained from eating soup the other day??? WEll I really did gain it. Now that is.
So I've weighed my options. Pain? Or FAT?? And I choose pain. AT least I THINK I do. I am going to let the rheumy know that his solution isn't working for me and will see what other tricks he has up his sleeve. Until then I"m gonna apply myself to re-losing these pounds just as soon as I stop being hungry and bedridden :(

So very sorry it happened again for you :(( So you are telling me you did that exact same thing SEVEN times to dislocate your hip?? Why have not you taken this painful, awful lesson to heart NOT to do it EVER again? How many times to you have to be hit over the head with it?? Please Cynthia, think before acting!! Use reachers, grabbers, whatever so you don't have to bend over. A lot of accidents and painful events can be avoiding by being careful and aware of your surroundings, and not rushing! Being in a hurry has to be one of the most common times accidents happen when you get careless and not pay attention to things.
Please be more careful and look after yourself! I so hate hearing about you being in so much pain and having to take drugs like prednisone :((

Oh my friend, I DO know those choices! And for me, choosing to just deal with the pain was NOT smart. That led to the deterioration that resulted in my being the proud owner of TWO Stryker Triathalon Titanium replacement knees, at the age of 45! I am praying for wisdom for your Doctor, and patience and strength for you to deal with all of this.
In my recovery, I had to look honestly at the nutritional goals they set for me for healing and decide which was more important to me-keeping my calories within range or making sure I hit the really high protein they wanted me to get. The protein was necessary to heal. The calorie increase would be temporary, and any resulting weight gain would also-therefore be temporary. The NEED to heal outbalanced the WANT to continue losing at the pace I had been.
Of course, once I admitted that and was willing to do whatever I had to, and blogged about it? I had awesome Sparkers give me amazing suggustions that have helped me meet my protein AND stay in my calorie range. BUT, I couldn't have done it if I hadn't prayed over it and been willing to change my priorities-temporarily!
You have so many things going on, and you still manage to do so much! There is nothing wrong with putting yourself in maintenance mode for a while to get your pain under control, if that is what you need to do.
Be careful, take care of yourself, I'm praying for you!
