Rev your engines, folks: Back on track and Being Kind

Tuesday, February 12, 2013

One day at a time, right? That's all we have. That's all we can control.

I've decided to push forward, to quit lamenting the days that I've missed, and take it one step at a time. I've been logging in consistently (though I apparently forgot to spin the wheel, which set me back, streak-wise. Whoops.) and tracking, which are both steps that I can control.
I've started my own personal streak of at least 30 min of exercise (in any form) per day, which is going well. I've been quite good about eating within my limits and trying to add more water and vegetables.

So I'm giving myself a big pat on the back. Why? Because we can all be kinder to ourselves. Being kind doesn't mean being lenient or indulgent-- rather, it means to meet ourselves where we are, and want to strive to be better while celebrating the work that we've already done. Being kind allows us to take stock of what we've done RIGHT, and building on that foundation for more good stuff to come.

How are you being kind to yourself today?

Of course! And you've said it so well [what would have taken me twice as long to get to the same point]: It's just a question of linking one good day with another, until we look back and marvel at all those days that we were able to maintain our goals. It's like a marriage or any long-term relationship: One day we look back and go, "Oh my! Is it REALLY that long already?"

You deserve to be proud of your achievement. And being Number One in your cheering section should always be you. That's the most important element.

You definitely got this.

All the best,
