Prosperous Heart by Julia Cameron Check In - Week 4 Cleaning House
My first Artist's Way Circle Meetup in Waukesha was so much better than I hoped. I asked our Co-Administrator and my boyfriend Bill who has already walked with me for 12 weeks of Artist's Way and 12 weeks Walking in This World to come with me to just the first meeting because I was afraid I would be sitting there and no one would come. lol Boy was I wrong! We had a total of 9 people showed up and it was a very interesting mix. One third of the group were people who I had done the Artist's Way Circle in Waukesha, one third were people who I had met 5 years ago in my Artist's Way Circle in Milwaukee under the leadership of Tim Bailen, and the rest were fresh new faces that I had never met before. So basically 2/3 of the people were friends in some way or another. Which to me made meeting the new people better because I received such support from my current and previous friends. I was so nervous I couldn't eat any of the delicious cheese pizza and garlic bread that Bill had bought for me. I was very thirsty so I drank lots of soda.
One of the new people was Oneida from my tribe and we shared a great discussion about the Idle No More Movement. I am going to post another post with my Idle No More videos so you can all see a glimpse of the movement from my perspective. One member shared with me that there were opportunities for disabled artists and those wanting to develop self employment skills at the Grand Avenue Club. So, today I contacted Grand Ave Club and I expressed an interest in joining. The Grand Avenue Club is located in Milwaukee and I live in another county in Waukesha, initially I was concerned about whether they would let me join because I live in Waukesha. Fortunately, the receptionist said that they do accept people from Waukesha. So we scheduled for me to take a tour in April which is a good month to travel to Milwaukee because it will be in the middle of spring. I really want to thank you for recommending me to Grand Avenue Club, I really believe this is a beginning of my rehabilitation as an self employed artist. I was happy that everybody appreciated my gifts. I made homemade Valentine's cards for everybody. I also brought scented markers for name tents. Plus, I had an extra The Artist's Way book by Julia Cameron which I offered to anybody who didn't have a copy. I am glad one member did accept my gift. Everybody in the meeting was wonderful to be with and cooperated so well that we can up with a schedule of meetings and a field trip for the group to enjoy.
Counting: I had a hardship that prevented me from grocery shopping and I blew a lot of money on delivery food. Sigh, I could have spent that on other projects.
Morning Pages: 7/7 I tried typing my Morning Pages previously on computer and it makes it easier for me to read and organize. But after listening to Julia Cameron assert that Morning Pages are best done long hand I went back to working them long hand even though I can't read my own handwriting very well. I experimented writing my Morning Pages in rainbow colors because I was using my Christmas gift of many colored pens.
Time Out: I had a very hard work week. I was up all night with racing thoughts that I couldn't get a full night sleep before. I took several time outs this week. In silence. I am trying to practice embracing the silence little by little. I am starting to get more comfortable and I noticed I received greater insight during those times. I welcome to receive more insight.
Abstinence: There were two instances I could have borrowed money one for a soda I desperately wanted but didn't have money for. The other is for a car ride that I wanted to accept from a friend, but I didn't have $5 to pay for it upfront. They both said I could write an IOU but no I made a commitment to myself not to borrow money from people. So, I am proud of myself for preserving my abstinence.
Walks: Over 11,000 steps this week. Better than the 5,000 steps the last week. still my personal goal is to be at 14,000 steps a week. I will work on that by turning on Pow Wow and dancing around my house. That will definitely increase my steps. :D
