12-day update

Just writing this blog entry to kind of keep myself focused on what I want to accomplish.

Overall I have seen a change in my strength, and I am seeing a progression towards being more toned in specific areas of my body that I've been working on. So that's exciting.

I definitely see overall progress, but it's been going kind of slowly. I haven't weighed myself since I started this "journey" because I'm too scared! But at this point in the game, I am happy even to see that my body just looks better from being more toned!

Here's an example what I mean. About 6 days a week, I do at least 100 crunches, and around 70 lower-ab exercises (not sure of the exercise name). I've definitely lost a little fat there, but the main thing is the abdominal strength alone seems to tone that area up some.

Of course I do not see a huge change, but it is enough for me to notice. My jeans are fitting a teensy bit better, and I feel slightly more confident in shirts. Girls notice these small changes!! haha :)

AREAS THAT NEED IMPROVEMENT:

I don't do enough cardio. If I did more, I'm sure I'd lose fat much faster. I'm still lagging on the cardio stuff.

I was really good about going to the gym for awhile, but my husband and I share a car, and he's been running in the morning with some fellow soldiers training for a marathon. He's been leaving at 5:30am every morning. Now I could wake up at 3:30am to go to the gym before he leaves, but who really would have the motivation to do that? Such a big part of metabolism fat burning is getting adequate sleep, and there's no way I'd be able to fall asleep by 6pm. Butttttt that's really no excuse, because I could be going outside for a walk ;) I'm just such a homebody, I love my quiet time at home. So anyways, I need to work out this cardio business (pun unintentionally intended).

Secondly, my husband's old war friend is in the area for some training, so we've been going out with her every weekend and/or having her over for drinks. I try to make sensible food choices, but last weekend we went out with her, and as a vegetarian needing protein, the only thing I could eat on the menu was cheese quesadillas..... They mixed all their beans with pig broth.

OVERALL:

I do think I have been losing weight, just a bit slower than I would like. I DEFINITELY do see muscle definition starting to happen, which is great. The ol' butt, abs, arms, and back are getting stronger. Been forcing myself to keep trying to do (girl/modified) pushups and usually do at least 15, even if i have to stop and lay on the floor ;)

GOALS:

I want to be able to run!
I want to be able to do a set of regular pushups!
I want to feel confident in a bikini!

I've been thinking about getting this Victoria's Secret bikini as motivation to get toned and slim! What do you guys think??

    So if we put together my cardio and your sculpting we may have the perfect routine! Don't forget to give your muscles a break: they grow better when you do (time to repair). Maybe you'll have to break down and buy a treadmill, too. So far I'm loving it: 15% incline means I burn 150 calories in just 15 minutes. WTF? :D But they're expensive :(
