Although, I do not go to church every week, I like to take Lent on as a personal challenge. Two years ago, I tried to give up swearing. It was a miserable failure. I found out that I swear a lot, as part of my regular vocabulary. I tried to keep track and keep a swear jar, but there were so many infractions that I lost count. So after Easter came I decided on an amount and donated it to charity.
This year, I am going to tackle clutter in my home. I read on-line this woman who decided to to 40 boxes in 40 days. This challenge is for me. My condo is pretty small, so I cannot imagine that I actually have 40 boxes full of stuff, but there is a lot of stuff that I just don't use (and someone else would find great) or things that need a permanent home (rather than underneath the hope chest and covered with a decorative cloth).
I am not the best housekeeper, but I don't live in squalor either. I did finally find a system that works for me. I set my alarm 15 minutes earlier and clean my house for 15 minutes every day and then start my usual morning routine. Things are much more manageable. Also, I found that listening to funny books on tape while I clean is better than the histories or mysteries that I usually listen to.
If this works, it could be my best Easter ever. Easter is the holiday that I host my family and I don't stress about the cooking so much as making sure that everything is clean and put away.
