FROM FREE PICTURES OF A SEARCH ENGINE.
HAVING BEEN STATIONED IN MOBILE AND NEW ORLEANS, I'VE SEEN IT ALL. IT BEGAN IN MOBILE BUT NEW ORLEANS REALLY MADE IT BIG. IT WAS STARTED FOR FAMILY IN PARADES AND FOOD, BUT IS NOW WAY OVER THE HILL. I WOULD NEVER WANT TO SEE OR BE THERE FOR THE CELEBRATIONS. NOW IT IS DANGEROUS AN OVERDONE IN MY ESTIMATION. BUT THEN I NEVER GREW UP THERE. EVERYONE WOULD TELL YOU THAT IT REALLY IS FOR FAMILY.
ENJOY YOUR PANCAKES AND SAUSAGES!!
DON'T FORGET emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon !!!!

I've been a couple of times over the past couple of years. My first experience was lots of fun.....my husband grew up in the area so he knew the safe, family oriented areas. I enjoyed it so much that I wanted to go back last year. We did and tried a different parade in the day. It was more of a pagentry type parade and pretty but not as much excitement with all of the "throws". We passed on it this year because we decided it wasn't where we really needed to be. I guess it's each to their own when it comes to something like this. All in all, it was started for the children but seems to have progressed into something much more in some areas....not all....not the areas we were in, but some....for adults. That is the reason we choose not to participate as watchers this year.

Hmmm. For myself, I have to watch out for pancakes and sausages.

    Thanks for writing.

What I have seen of it on TV does seem overdone.
