Trying to Find Time For Everything

Tuesday, February 12, 2013

Our homeschool group has lots of activities coming up including a tween/teen event that is keeping me and my friend who is the other co-owner super busy. A few days later is our Valentine party as well as other events so it seems she and I are always working hard on planning, organizing, buying, etc.

I've got two church consignment sales coming up early next month that I have to get prepared for (always love selling stuff, but hate all the prep and work involved) as well as all the other things we moms have to do.

I've been very successful at finding some great deals in the grocery store and other bargain stores in my area. One was Wilton fondant that I found for $1 a box! I'm glad I bought a few because they are gone now. I plan to use it for parties that our homeschool group has so I won't be eating it, LOL.

I also found Martha Stewart decorating kits for $1. It had decorating bags, 4 icing tips, couplers, and a little book! Those also were gone when I went back so happy I grabbed a few of them. I am trying to balance overbuying of things (no matter how cheap) but at the same time realize that a bargain that I can use might not be there again so I had better grab it when available. It can be a struggle knowing which direction to go but I know a bargain when I see one and grab it usually. :-)

My daughter's, my husband's and my father's birthdays are all next month and I'm trying to come up with ideas on making special food for them (well not my father as he doesn't even live in the same state as me) that are their favorites.

LOL, well I have never used fondant which is why I was willing to pay $1 a box since it is very expensive otherwise (even with a coupon at Michael's and other craft stores). I have books on how to use it and thought I would color it and cut some shapes out of it with cookie cutters to decorate.

For instance, you can cut some of it (after coloring it red or pink) with small cookie cutters that are heart-shaped to go on top of cupcakes for Valentine's.

Remember to take time out to take care of yourself too. You're doing great things for others. Make sure to do great things for you!
