My New Workout, and My Spring Goal

Voted Popular Blog Post: View All Popular Posts

Tuesday, February 12, 2013

Today is day 46 of my current streak of being on track with eating and exercise!

On Saturday, I blogged about my Valentines Day gift from hubby, which was a new workout! Its a kettle bell workout for beginners and it came with a DVD which has 4 workouts on it, plus two kettle bells...3 lbs and 5 lbs. This is the workout I got;

So far, I am really loving this workout! Since Saturday (when I first started working out with it) I have done all the workouts at least once. The 4 workouts are; Upper Body, Buns & Thighs, Core, and Fat Burning. My favorite workouts are the Upper Body and Fat Burning. They really get my heart rate up and make me sweat!

I really think this is a good workout to get me introduced to kettle bell workouts. I can tell already that I will want to stick with this. Its actually a fun way to exercise. I do two workouts at a time, and even though that is almost 40 minutes, the time sure does fly!

By the way...there are 35 days until Spring! Why not set a goal for yourself to reach by then? Its always fun to have something to aim for! My own goal for Spring is to be able to fit into my "Curves Chick" t shirt. I don't go to Curves anymore so I guess I'm not a Curves Chick...but its a cute t shirt and I want to be able to wear it! I've had it ever since I won it in a drawing back in 2007, when I was a Curves member. Its been hanging in the closet all that time, because it was always too small for me and I was too stubborn to give it away! (Its my favorite color, after all!)

So now that shirt is hanging on the front of the closet door instead of hiding inside. I see it every day and it keeps me motivated. I'm really hoping to be able to wear it by the first day of Spring. Wish me luck! I'm working hard for that!

My personal theme for the month is to be my own Valentine. That means that I will love myself enough to appreciate my body, to be as healthy as I possibly can be, and to never forget that I am worth my best effort every day! As my Sparkfriend Annasgoals says..."Be fierce!" And I am going to be fierce about loving myself...not just in February, but all year long.

I would really like to start kettlebells. I like the idea of getting strength and cardio over in the one workout. I am looking around for a good DVD. The one you are using will not work in Europe.

Way to go Pixie! I love my kettlebells - I started with 15 lbs and then discovered that a good beginner weight for women is 25 lbs!
A lighter weight is the way to go to develop
Perfect form -- you can also go to
Library and get kettlebell workout books or go online for xtra exercises. I got Bob Harpers Kettlebell workout DVD and it is FIERCE!
Can't finish the full hour do I"m chunking it up and hope I do
The full hour in a month or so.
Anyway. It's cardio and strength all rolled into
One -- and you will see your body CHANGE really fast bit you"re gonna need much heavier bells real soon!

Good for you for trying a new workout - another tool in the healthy living kit. Hubby is such a wonderful support.
Surprisingly, most people use kettlebells that are too light - so once you get the technique down, don't be afraid to try heavier weights (secondhand).
Looking forward to seeing your picture in that t-shirt! emoticon

I wish you luck, but I'm absolutely positive that you'll make it, and without luck even - because you're working hard for your goal! Still, all the support and best wishes you need - you'll get here. We're cheering for you! emoticon

I am in a charity fashion show in April, so I have made it my goal to use my broken wrist as a motivator to get in the best shape I can by then - walk everyday and work on my muscle tone.

A kettlebell is the next piece of equipment I want to get. I have a medicine ball, stability ball, free weights and a resistance band, and use all of them as well as my treadmill for cardio.

35 days until Spring? OK, that sounds a good timeframe to work to. I wonder if I could possibly stick to my calorie range for 35 days.... No, surely not. But perhaps I could manage one day (tomorrow) and then see about the next day? I see a plan coming together!
Thanks for the inspiration, Pixie.
