A Great Day and Progress

Tuesday, February 12, 2013

emoticon Today was a wonderful day. I had an appointment with my surgeon and the dietitian today. My wounds are healing beautifully there is no sign of infection and the pain is minimal. Dr. McMahon is very pleased. Then on to the Dietitian. I get to move ahead to soft foods again. I am so happy to finally get to eat something other than clear liquids. My husband and I stopped at the grocery store on the way home and I picked up some things that sounded good to me, some greek yogurt, fresh crab, fresh baby shrimp, low fat cheese, fruit, cottage cheese, and the ingredients to make Manhattan Clam Chowder. I can't eat the clams but I will still get the flavor and can eat everything else in it. I am so excited and so motivated right now. It is hard for me to believe that they have finally found my problem and that I will soon be able to eat a regular diet. I can't wait for tomorrow to make the chowder.

I did find out that I have eaten so little for so long, that I could not eat even 3 oz. of yogurt. I had to put it back in the fridge and it took me three tries to get through it at 2 hour intervals. This is something that I am not going to push. I will continue to fill in with the protein shakes to get in the 80-100 grams of protein they want me to have. I can face them once again now that I can eat some other foods also. It doesn't matter how little of the other foods I can have, they taste wonderful.

I still have a lot of limitations on my from the surgery as far as activities go, but am hoping soon that I can go back to water aerobics. That is about the only thing my knees will take. I can only walk about every third day, because then my knees are so painful that I cannot walk for about two days. If anyone has some other suggestions for exercise, let me know. I am open to almost anything that is within my limitations.

Today has renewed my motivation and I feel as excited as I was right after surgery. emoticon
