When cops come knocking...

Monday, February 11, 2013

I am one angry woman right now. I try to be reasonable with my child. I really do. But sometimes I lose my cool and I yell at her. Tonight was one of those nights. She blatantly disobeyed me right in front of my face. I yelled, she ran to her room crying loudly (Mega drama queen) and about 10 minutes later, I get a knock on the door. Open it to find two sheriffs standing there. Said someone called them saying something was going on in this apartment, an adult yelling, a child crying, and loud banging noises (my kid angrily cleaning up her toys). Oye vey. You could obviously see my kid is fine. She's standing there laughing and talking to you about how I'm gonna take her to Disneyland. She's obviously in perfect physical condition with no visible marks. Did you really think the banging noise was me throwing her into a wall or something?! Eff man. I'm so irritated right now. What has this world come to when a parent can't even discipline her kid without the cops getting called on her? So many kids these days are rude arrogant disrespectful little brats, and its because the parents are so lax with discipline. I grew up getting whippings with a belt and I turned out just fine! People need to mind their own stinking business! Grrrrr! Sorry but I'm so angry right now! I better not get CPS knocking on my door next! I've heard that if cops get called out and a child is involved that CPS will be called too, but I'm unsure if that's true or not. Cross your fingers.

In other news... I added on level 2 of my workout DVD this morning. Holy canoli. I thought I was going to die. Sumo jumping jacks, mountain climbers, burpees, tire runs, high knees... and more. And that's after already being tired from level 1. I literally was wiped. I kinda just stood there a few times, panting and staring at the TV in disbelief. You want me to do WHAT?! Oh well... I gotta push through it. Level one made me drop 6 pounds last week. I'm eager to see what level 1 AND 2 will do. My legs are definitely getting smaller and firmer. Very exciting.

Hopefully everyone had a good start to their week.

I am so sorry- it is so difficult being a single parent and we as parents do get upset and yell or say something stupid. I am sure everything will be fine but how embarrassing and upsetting. this would have been an easy time to eat and you didn't. emoticon

I know what you mean! I have a 4 yr old high strung... strong willed child! I try not to yell, but sometimes I mess up. Im sure the cops saw that she was fine and that nothing was wrong. I really dont think cps will get involved!

I understand why you're upset and I understand why the person called the police. A lot of very normal looking people are true child abusers. In our area, people in an apartment building did nothing when they heard a little boy screaming. You can imagine how they felt when they learned the little boy was severely beaten and murdered because he wet his pants.

Your incident sounds like the police were making sure everything in your home was okay. That's probably the end of it. It might be best not to raise your voice! A long time out or grounding--or cancelling Disneyland--might be more effective. Good luck.

I am a dispatcher, and I know it's freakin annoying when people call the cops for every little thing. There hear screaming and crying and they call. I understand there is like screaming and crying like "help me", "you are hurting me", "don't touch me" etc. And then there is the sound of arguing. All day long I get "code 4, verbal argument only" because of course there is nothing wrong with that. I don't know the policy for the CPS stuff, but because they saw your child was in great condition and a very happy little girl I would hope that there would be nothing else to be done in that situation. And I hope your neighbors can mind their business and not over react in the future. emoticon
