It seems that everything you do have certain tools to make you successful. Carpenters have hammers, Teachers have books and pencils, Gardeners have shovels & seeds, and so forth ......You get the idea.
I have discovered that there are tools to weight loss as well. To be successful at weight loss, YOU MUST HAVE THE TOOLS.
It is vital that you measure your food, your weight, your time on the treadmill. In order to do this you need measuring cups and spoons, a reliable scale, a tape measure, a way to measure you exercise and a few friends to cheer you on.
Measuring cups and spoons - As soon as you think you can "eye" the amount of food you eat - you will eat too much. Trust me - I am an expert in making 2 cups seem like one.
You need to have a reliable scale to know your successes as well as your failures. We have both but we cannot improve if we won't face our situation.
Use the tape measure and measure your body. About the time you don't think the diet is working, you realize that you have lost an inch here and 2 inches there.
If I can set a goal of walking a set distance or time.....If I want to walk so many steps in a week, I am more likely to push forward to meet my goals. I need a pedometer or recording system to measure my successes.
And finally, having a good friend to kick you back in gear is essential.
I have dieted all my life and I always do well in the beginning. About the time I think I don't need to measure and weigh, I start to plateau or yo-yo and my weight goes up and down. Pretty soon I seem to get tired of the plateau and put the tools away----OH NO! Now I have quit dieting and my weight will come back on.
I guess what I am trying to say is ---BUY THE TOOLS, USE THE TOOLS, AND MAKE THEM A PART OF YOUR LIFE. Success will be right around the corner.
