I started noticing some lumps on the left side of my neck yesterday. It turns out, that these lumps are swollen lymph nodes, and I can feel the series of lumps from my collar bone all the way to the bottom of my ear. There's about 6 of them. I recently had a cold, but I thought it was over aside from some post-nasal drip. Other than the swollen glands hurting to the touch, I feel fine. A little bit of a headache, but fine otherwise. I even worked out full force yesterday.
Luckily, I was able to get in to see a doctor on campus today, but they weren't able to figure it out either. I told them everything I could. I don't smoke, I don't drink, I don't use 'recreational drugs', and my wisdom teeth aren't bothering me. she even poked around my jaw, and examined my ears, nose, and the inside of my mouth. Nothing! She eventually had to have a colleague come in and felt around too.
She ended up recommending me to a nearby location to have blood drawn. They could have done it there, but it would be much more expensive rather than drawing it at the other clinic where they'd send it to the hospital. Now, I get to figure out why the heck my lymph nodes decided to swell on me. I'm still going to work out tomorrow-unless I feel like complete crap that is.
On a good note, I weighed in at 240! FINALLY! I'm getting somewhere! It's definitely because I've been working on my eating. My strategy is eating within calorie range, but leaving about 100 calories or so so I'm not maxing out all the time. I'm really working on eating mindfully and it's been working in my favor. I am full longer when I actually think about it. Instead of eating at set times, I've been only eating when I'm hungry.
I'm staying motivated by just keeping in mind how much further I have to go, and how little it is compared to what I've already lost. For once, I have lost more weight, than I have weight left to lose, and that right there is keeping me on the right track.
Well, I'm really hoping that I get this swelling down soon. I've been taking ibuprofen and hopefully soon, an antibacterial once they prescribe one to me.
I also have an appointment tomorrow with my counselor-It's an intake appointment. I hope once I start getting regular counseling again, this weight will really start to come off.
I can still do this!
