It is so easy to think in your head about the goals that you have for yourself and things that you want. It is another thing to write them down. To commit to them. Studies do however show that by writing down goals and revisiting them often to revise them, mark off what has been accomplished and adding more people tend to be more successful with that they set out to do.
I actually have a friend who has no less than 30 index cards that he carries with him all the time. He keeps them as a silent motivator of the goals that he has completed and what he still has set out to do.
What a great reminder that would be. Even sitting at Macy's debating on if you REALLY need that new purse or pair of shoes...You could pull out your index card and visualize the vacation that you have been saving up for. By seeing the goal that you have set right next to your wallet it might make you think twice.
So, that is what I am going to work on this week. The first goal I have set for myself? SET SOME GOALS! I want to think of at least 5 things that I want to accomplish as short term goals and 5 things that I want to accomplish as long term goals. While I have some ideas in mind I am going to take it a step farther. I am going to create myself some motivational index cards. By writing down my goals...*gulp*...I will be committing to them. Adding some pictures to the card will be a quick and easy way to visualize what I am aiming for.
Here is what I have so far:
-make index cards with goals--to be completed by February 15, 2013
-lose the last remaining 10 lbs that have been hanging in there--to be completed by April 1, 2013 meaning I ONLY have to lose 1.42 pounds per week!
-Feel confident in a swimsuit at the Lake Shasta family event in March. Be happy with how far I have come and lay out in that swimsuit with pride!---to be completed by March 16, 2013
-Be able to run a 5k without stopping---to be completed by April 26, 2013

Daily Goal? To be seen as an inspiration to others through my thoughts and actions. To have someone look at me and say...Hey. If she can do it so can I.
