When we were kids we could not wait for it to snow. Snow meant having no school. Snow meant sliding down hills, ice skating, hockey, skiing, etc. As we started to age snow meant arthritis, falling down breaking a hip, sore knees and back, having to shovel walks and driveways. Where did the years go? Some of us are lucky to have a condo in Florida, or Az.
Some of us can get away from the cold and snow, but others have to suffer through it.
Why is it the winter takes so long to go and the summer is so short? Life is at a standstill for older seniors, who can not get outside to enjoy the air. Being locked in a house because of snow can depress an older senior. There is nothing we can do about it so as they say we join the crowd and wait till Feb goes into March and finally we see spring once again.

My mum is pretty much in the same situation. She's a little shy about going to a gym so she goes mall walking with a group. It keeps her in shape and provides social interaction. It tides her over till spring comes round and she can go outdoor walking again.
