So much to share...

... but Lucy and William are sleeping over so I don't have time now. emoticon
My son and wonderful DIL have been fairly housebound with these lively children since the blizzard started on Friday morning and are ready for an evening off so, since we babysit on Tuesdays anyway, we said bring them over!
It'll be not quite as comfortable now that my DD, Mimi, is living back at home with us (happily for all of us, I might add). emoticon

My big news is that my beloved elder care client,
the professor,
passed away this morning.
In his own home,
in a recliner, by a crackling fire,
with his daughter nearby,
painlessly,
at nearly 99.
Who could ask for anything more than that?
I will post a fitting tribute to my little man when I can do him justice.
I cared for him for over 3 years and will miss him, although he has been ready to go for some months now.
Just last Friday, after months of confusion,
he was alert enough to refuse further medical treatment.

I'm so glad that he was able to die at home, the way he wanted to. You will really miss him, and I will look forward to reading your triubute. emoticon

Oh Elizabeth....saying goodbye is never easy, even when it is clearly time. How lovely that his passing was so peaceful and that his daughter was by his side.

God was surly waiting to pass him over. What a blessed transition. You were such a wonderful friend and caregiver. You were his angel.
Have a wonderful day with the grandbabies.

Awww....he will be missed. I remember he was chopping wood not long ago. He obviously did things his way and, it appears (to me, via the internet, at least) he stayed true to himself to the very end, dying at home, independently.

I look forward to you telling us more about his life.
Meanwhile, I hope you stay warm and dry!

When our time comes, we can only hope our passing will be as peaceful as the Professor's. It sounds like he was blessed all the way around!

I love a noisy, chaotic, but loving home! Sounds like it will be a fun night for you.

What a gift, to be able to care for someone until he can pass away peacefully on his own terms. Not always easy for you: but something you can feel very proud to have provided.

Aaww! I'm sorry! I will miss the professor but what a wonderful way to go!!! Have fun with the kiddos. I've been wanting to have GD here for sleepover but her and her brother are fairly clingy with mommy right now as due date draws near. I'll be at their house when baby arrives so I will get my "fix" then.
