Couch to 5k Progress, Hidden Favorites, And Suddenly Being A Popular Kid

Hello SparkFriends!

Today is a rainy day in Georgia! Which means that it rained all night, slacked off just enough to where you think it might be clearing up, and then it starts sprinkling(which then continues...for hours).

Rain = No Archery. (Boo.)
Sprinkles = Walking approved!

So I did a 4.5 mile walk, followed by Week 2 Day 2 of the Couch to 5K jogging intervals program. I think I have discovered that for myself, the third interval is the hardest. The first two are okay, because I am still relatively fresh and my breathing quickly comes back under control during the recovery walks, but that third interval...MAN That's hard! It also doesn't help that it usually comes on a REALLY big hill in my neighborhood.

And I find myself thinking... why do these podcasts always have really awful songs for the third interval? They are slower than all the other songs picked out... I don't recognize the song, and most of the time, they don't have very many lyrics to take my mind off of what I'm doing! All the other songs are usually pretty good... why does the third one have to be so bad?

And then I wonder... is it really so bad? Or is it that I just don't like that third interval so much that it's bleeding over to the music? So I'm listening to it in my room after the fact to test this theory... nah. It's just a bad song choice. Moving on!

But the good news is that I don't feel quite so wiped out after doing my jogging intervals! I don't get that feeling that I have to drag my body through the motions of the day after I do them. I have a bit of recovery time, get cleaned up, and I feel ready to go! It's fantastic!

The next issue at hand is the Favorites option here on SparkPeople...
I tried to favorite a nutrition article today... I clicked on the button and it says that it's been favorited... but when I go look at my favorites under the More tab on my SparkPage... All I've got there is my recipes... Where did my article go????

It was an article on how to get your protein from sources other than meat:

Anybody know how to fix it so it will show up on my favorites?
*Edit: I think I found it! I went to Edit My SparkPage and made sure the Show my SparkFavorites box was checked...

Ooh! And I got a Trophy for Saturday's blog! I received the "Popular Blog Post" award! Thanks for taking the time to read my blog, comment, and like it! It's such a funny feeling, being popular! I was never the popular kid in school(I was the nerdy kid who ALWAYS had a book to read and talked to the other nerdy and artsy kids), so I must confess this is a first!

It gives me such a warm and fuzzy feeling!
And it came at such a nice time, too!

Valentine's Day is this week, and SparkPeople.com and you, my lovely SparkFriends, (since I am currently single) I want you to be my Valentine!

his week is also my 3 Month Anniversary with SparkPeople! (on V Day, actually!)
I just feel so mushy about all this!

    I feel the same way about the end of the third set when I'm lifting. The guy whose book I follow actually says he considers everything up to the very end of the last set as just a warm-up - it's those ones that you struggle through that are actually making you stronger and building muscle. I love that philosophy and it helps me when I'm doing yoga or rowing or running or pullups or anything - I know that when it gets tough is when I'm really making a difference in my health!

    It's kind of how I felt about running 5K.. the first 3.5-4 are ok, but that last K to K and a half are a killer! Keep fighting! It will come and it will get easier. I am currently training for a 10 K... went 6.33 on Sunday... the first 5 were easy... the last 1.33 were really hard... but I kept fighting! Keep going, you are doing awesome!!!

    Hey friend... When I downloaded the couch 2 5k app on my phone it allowed me to sync the music that was already on my phone (my playlists) so i got to listen to the music of my choosing... definately helps with the motivation! Whenever i found teh song wasnt doing its job i hit the skip button until one came on that did! I know I probably looked silly holding my phone out in front of me while i ran but I guess you could change it during the walk knowing it will be on when the running starts again... Hope this helps!
